1990 Geo Prizm 1.6 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Geo is a good car GM, and Toyota did right with this car. I still wish they made these today

Faults:

Well the only things I needed to replace were the timing belt and the muffler. That's it. I just replaced the stereo, but that is just because the car had a tape deck, not a CD player.

General Comments:

Love this car. I bought this car because my Daewoo Leganza kept messing up, so I need a 2nd car. I paid 150.00 dollars for this car. This is the best car I had ever owned; it is not the most comfortable thing to drive, but it does last forever it seems.

1990 Geo Prizm Base 1.6 ? from North America

Summary:

Can't go wrong with it!

Faults:

Problem free!

General Comments:

Great first car. Fun and easy to drive with great city driving. MPG is great too.

I got it for $600 from the 1st owner who goes to my church. It had just got an expensive front end alignment. This car really is amazing. They had it in their driveway for 2 years, and the tires were stuck to it! But they drove it a few blocks every so often to get the fluids going. It was a "red" Geo, but was turned chalk pink from the sun.

What I did to it was change the oil, new tires, hub caps, 3 waxings, wipers, radio + speakers, most of the light bulbs and replaced the rusted muffler. The car with 228,000 miles looks like a $3000 car.

For the 5 months and 4,000 miles I had it, it was a beast. I'm 17 and it was good enough for me.

I lost it coming to school after it rained on my school exit when a kid in a stang rear ended me. Lil geo killed him. My bumper was smashed in, but was considered totaled. I got $1200 for it thank god!

Now I'm going to get the Chevy Corsica?!?! Can't wait... not.

1990 Geo Prizm Base 1.6L 4AFE from North America

Summary:

This car just won't die!! Very reliable

Faults:

Pretty good deal @ $1500 in 2000 with 120,000 miles.

Over the life of this car, I've replaced parts that will go bad anyway: starter, alternator, brakes, wheel cyl., wheel bearings, shocks, AC fan.

The clutch is still good, even with over 300,000 miles.

Cloth is sagging from the roof, A/C quit working, & I'm in need of some muffler work.

General Comments:

This car is my daily driver, even with over 300,000 miles.

It zips alongside all the new cars with no problems.

The car still runs excellent!! Even with my abuse.

Windows are hard to roll up now. Best car I've owned!

1990 Geo Prizm from North America

Summary:

Reliable, dependable

Faults:

Weather stripping needs to be replaced.

Window motors don't work.

Something about the rotors... not clear.

General Comments:

Very reliable.

Has 300k miles and runs great.

Helped us move from San Diego to Portland towing a trailer, no problems at all.

After all that we still get about 28 miles a gallon.

1990 Geo Prizm LSI 1.6 SOHC from North America

Summary:

Great 1990 vehicle, and is absolutely awesome on gas!!!

Faults:

Rear struts needed replacing at 154000 miles. Car would bottom out on even the lowest speed bumps, and would shake at 70+

Window are difficult at best to open on cold mornings, impossible on mornings 20 degrees or colder.

Wears through tires fairly quick. I can get 20000 out of a good set at best.

General Comments:

I bought this car running fairly well in 06 after someone rear ended my 94 V6 Cavalier ( (rest in peace, my love) ) and I absolutely love this little car. I have had no real problems with it so far.

I recently drove it, at 170000, across the united states, ( (Arizona to Georgia, I40) ) loaded down with all my gear. ( (Military P.C.S.) ) And had no troubles whatsoever.

The car handles fairly well, although with no ABS it doesn't have the best stopping time.

What people don't see is the fact that this car is just a re-badged Corolla, and will think it's a piece of crud, therefore selling it cheap.

This is possibly the greatest car you could get for a first time driver on a budget.
