The doors do not close properly, so I have to periodically adjust the door strikers.
The car makes various front-end popping sounds when in reverse at low speeds.
It performs very well for a 14 year old car.
It is very difficult to find aftermarket performance parts for this car.
I do not doubt it's reliability.
I would definitely buy another Honda in the future.
I have an accord SE-i and if you keep it in good shape, whoa! you don't have to buy a new car. and it's going to last for a looooong time!
I have an 89 Accord SE-i with 330,000 miles on it and I paid 300 bucks for it. Original Engine, Clutch, Transmission. Hadn't been started in THREE YEARS! Installed a new starter, battery, distributor and it CRANKED RIGHT UP! Best car I've ever had.
Mines a 5-speed and I can deal with the clutch going bad :) Also, the front seats are worn (leather) and my A/C is out, but when I get them fixed I'm gonna paint it. Also, after replacing the Bose headunit with a newer CD-player I encountered some amperage-draw problems with the Bose amp. Be warned! You may want to replace the 10A fuse with a 30A fuse for the ECU/Clock because that's the fuse the stereo runs on. Note that the Distributors are NOT Honda's strong point; they must be replaced every few years.
Hope I could help!
Interesting comments. My Honda will start immediately when jumped, but if it sets for two hours it is dead again. Is that the distributor or starter? Also, after it's sat for awhile it blows blue smoke. It doesn't do this in summer. Has 255,000 miles. I love this car. When it runs of course. It had a plastic piece rot out on the glove compartment so I took it off. And the radio has started making a sound like white noise. ho hum The engine light also comes on, but I'm hoping that it is just a check up light. Can you help me or is this too ridiculous? I've researched this on line, but there doesn't seem to be any mechanical history that I can read on the net. Or people to ask questions of. Thank you.
Hey I've recently bought a stick 1989 Honda accord, and I don't really know much about cars, and I can't seem to find a way to check the transmission fluid, now is there a way to check, or do stick cars not have that?
If anyone is the Nashville TN area is interested in selling their SE-I please let me know. I need a parts car. dunpipe@yahoo.com.
