1994 Honda Civic DX 1.5L from North America

Summary:

Fuel efficient, reliable, and fun. My miniature Japanese RV

Faults:

No problems with this car. Ever.

General Comments:

This car has been incredibly reliable as a daily driver, on long roadtrips (up to 15,000 miles at a shot), and for trips to the mountain to snowboard. Fuel economy varies with driving style. On the highway with cruise control, it hovers around 40mpg. In the city, driving like a maniac, it still gets 30+mpg. I have thought many times of trading it in, but the bluebook value is approaching zero - and the car is unbeatable. You can't buy this kind of economy today. If you own one, take good care of it, and it will last forever.

1994 Honda Civic LX Special Edition Sedan 1.5L 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Can't kill these things- great economy

Faults:

Small rust holes almost 1" in diameter on both sides by the bottom corner of the rear doors.

Seat starting to show signs of small tear at the seam.

General Comments:

I got a really good deal on this machine with 55,000 KM on it and only one previous owner. It is very quiet for it's age. and the engine is practically no maintenance other than oil and filter changes. Great gas mileage at around 45 MPG on the highway. The clutch has a nice precise feel to it and the shifting if very smooth. It hugs the road very nicely. The interior was designed well and has a good use of space without sacrificing quality. The paint looks good after 12 years of Canadian northern weather, which few hairline scratches caused by careless washing. The engine peppy around town and plenty sufficient for the highway, though begins to struggle on certain curvy inclines. An automatic transmission would not be recommended. I know friends who have put well over 300,000 kms on Civics and they keep going without a problem. Plus the price depreciation is fantastic.

1994 Honda Civic VTi 1.6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

This car is a bulletproof missile

Faults:

Nothing, just 2 little rust spots on the bottom of both arches, a common problem.

General Comments:

I bought this car because they are getting very rare and I've always wanted one ever since I was a little boy, I paid £1800 for it, which is fair considering the mileage and condition of the car.

The car is in very good nick for its age, and has been well looked after by the previous owner. The car is totally standard and doesn't look like a sporty car at all, the interior is spot on with racing seats in the front and two in the back.

Driving the car feels normal below 5500rpm, but above that the vtec system kicks in and the car just screams, sounds like an F1 car. The look on peoples faces when I pass them just says it all. The car is very fast for a 1.6, it has 160bhp and that's without a turbo, not many cars can keep up.

Overall the car is excellent and hasn't let me down at all. I would highly recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a discreet car with some serious pull.

These cars can rev all the way to 8200rpm, the vtec kicks in at 5500rpm, I've seen examples with over 200,000 miles on the clock that have been thrashed all the time and are still going strong.

Can match a 06 Subaru turbo?? That's funny, (0-60 5.4 in a 1.6). The car is stupidly slow under 5500k rpm, meaning that in any real life situation except traffic light grand prix you will get left for dead.

1994 Honda Civic Si 1.6 VTEC from North America

Summary:

Amazing

Faults:

Car started to stall at around 240 000. Changed spark plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter and that fixed the problem.

General Comments:

This car is amazing. It drives like a brand new for a car with 280 000km and original engine/tranny. The SI version has pretty good performance, but its lacking some power.

I recommend this car because it is really reliable, good on gas and easy to repair and maintain.

Amazing is right. Getting this many miles out of a HONDA is definitely out of the ordinary!!

250,000 miles on my 1994 Accord; neighbors civic 240,000 miles; friends Accord 250,000 miles; some guy I heard drove his 94 Accord to 1.2 million miles. Just saw an add for an Accord in my paper with 350,000 miles with an automatic: priceless...

I know this is an old post but I got 500,000 miles out my '76 Civic. Check out the review on this site of a guy who has over 700,000 miles on his Civic. Also, check out Honda Milemakers to see tons of extremely high mileage Honda's (good luck find anything with less the 200,000 on that site). One guy even got 1,080,000 miles on his Accord before selling it in perfect running condition.
