Summary:

Great MPG, renowned reliability, and comfortable. Great car

Faults:

None so far. Car came with a 1 year 12k mile warranty.

General Comments:

Not special in performance, comfort, styling, but its good for what I need. I bought this car to get to school, work, and hanging out with friends. It is pretty zippy, but a little more torque wouldn't do any harm. I get 31MPG city, and haven't done any highway driving to know that number, but it should be in the low 40s. When I put synthetic oil in, I can only imagine how happy I will be. The gear shifter is very smooth, and the interior of the car is well designed, with nothing redundant. All buttons and accessories are well placed, and the car is very easy to drive. All power features work great, and the car drives very well. I am very happy with this car, and knowing Honda quality, I will be for a long time, despite the high miles.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I actually just did a 1 year of ownership followup.. look for it on the top of the list.

Poster: I don't have ABS, and I actually kinda prefer that because it gives me a better feel for the road so when I lock the brakes, I know I am going too hard and I ease off, whereas ABS does the thinking for you so you don't know if you are driving too hard or the ABS just comes on too early...

Summary:

It should have not been approved to be built without more research

Faults:

Brakes squeak badly, had brakes replaced and still squeak. Head lights went out two weeks after I bought it. Transmission went out 5 months after I bought it at 62,592 miles.

General Comments:

This car is great on gas.

The brake system is shaky and of poor quality.

You can hear every road noise while driving.

This car has a poor suspension system.

The air conditioning unit does not have enough pull to cool off the cabin portion on a hot day.

This car is poorly conceived overall.

The transmission needs replacing after 60,000 miles.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

So you bought it with relatively high miles. What did you expect the brakes to do? Last the entire life of this car? Some brakes squeak, point of fact. The headlight thing can happen to anyone, and if the transmission went out at that mileage, you can either blame whoever you bought it from, or you drive like a bat out of hell.

More like you should have done more research or looking before you bought. It should have been easy to spot the transmission about to go haywire and possibly the headlight problem. The way I prevent myself from buying these kinds of cars is buying them with a through look around and I always skip the little cheap dealers, especially the ones in the inner city. A more reputable dealer doesn't necessarily mean a better car, but it is easier to sue them to get your money back and their cars most likely did not come from a flood or Cuba.

Since when is 59,000 miles high for an almighty "Honda"? I thought 200,000 miles was supposed to be just "barely broken in" on a Honda... Yeah right, tin can pieces of crap.

I may be no Honda guru (I've owned 4), but the newer Civics are just flat out junk. I've owned a 99 (great car!) and my friend an 01 (bad car!) and the difference is night and day. Mine is tight, trouble free, and enjoyable. His is sloppy, trouble filled, and awful. 2 sets of struts, suspension problems all around, etc, with 88K. The suspensions really suck on these cars, but as for the transmission, I don't know what to say. His tranny is solid, and he drives it very badly for a manual.
