Distributor went, alternator replaced. Windshield has just cracked on me, so I need to get that replaced.
Very nice car- I like the way a honda drives more than a toyota. However, toyota does have a slight reliability edge. I wish it had a manual transmission, but even with the automatic transmission the car seems very peppy. The car has a very nice ride at highway speeds (like something I would expect from a much larger car), and handles amazingly. I don't plan on selling it unless it requires any major repairs. I bought the car for under 2000 dollars, and hopefully I will drive it until it has 200,000+ miles, and then sell it for five hundred, and find another car just like this one.
Could the reliability edge have to do with the timing belts? I mean I hear of so many people breaking them in their hondas, but the ones that maintain their car actually have a car that is just as reliable as a Toyota... I think there is a big misconception that Toyota is superior in that regards when they use parts from the same supplier ie, denso, etc.
I said that Toyota's are slightly more reliable because of the survey results from Consumer Reports and J.D. Power. My personal experience with Toyota has been very good. My mom's car has over 160,000 miles and has almost all original parts. As far as the timing belts go- I have heard that the latest generation of Honda's have a chain timing belt. Can anyone confirm this?
