1998 Honda Civic EX review from North America
"No major problems after putting over 120,000 miles on it"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
After putting over 100,000 miles on it, nothing has gone wrong. Just a little rust. Still looks nice.
General comments?
Got this 1998 EX with 43000 on it back in January 2003, and it now has over 140,000 on it. I still have it and drive it daily.
It is still on the original clutch (manual transmission 5 speed), and it shifts and operates like brand new.
Overall, the only thing I've paid for is a timing belt, belts, and a waterpump - all at a cost of $470 at the Honda dealer. They did it all at the same time when it had 120k on it.
I put a new catback exhaust on it myself (from eBay - $160.00). Sounds nice. The old one was getting rusty.
I do my own oil changes to it also.
No other problems; I just have to do the brakes now in the front. Very easy to do. Lots of parts on eBay. I would buy another one in a second if I could afford it.
