"Great car for someone on a budget"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Indicator where the speedometer is indicated a problem with the fuel cap twice. Took it to the dealer, the fuel cap was fine, indicator turned off within two days. Has not happened recently.

General comments?

This car is very good on gas. It has a lot of power for a 1.8. I find it comparable to my 2006 Camry v6 surprisingly. Handling is excellent, very responsive. The brakes are very touchy compared to most cars, but it's not hard to get used to. The dashboard is laid out very well. The standard sound system is decent, but speakers should be replaced if you like your music loud. Overall no major complaints with this car. I have noticed in the last few months of owning this car, it has started to take a little longer to start cold. It'll crank normally and it'll feel like it is trying to catch, but is not getting enough fuel or something. I haven't taken it to the dealer yet, but does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone else experienced this with the new civic? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2005 CRV and a 2003 Accord they both take longer to start in the cold. This is not a problem. Most Hondas do this.

The starting probably has to do with how quiet or maybe how small the starter is. my older hondas crank in the typical japanese car order, but from testing all of the new hondas after 2002, i have noticed they crank over silently, kind of like they are using less power to crank the motor or they are trying to be whisper quiet. they are probably trying to match VW in the quietness of the car starting; like my sister's 99 cabrio: you cannot hear it start. less powerful or quieter motors in my opinion makes it harder to start the car, especially because it is harder for me to hear the engine crank over.

To correct the hardstarting in the cold just do the following. If you notice when you put the key into the ignition there are 3 points in the process of turning the key. Turn the key 1, 2, 3 and you will see the car start with ease. Do not turn the key hard all the way to the 3rd stop. Be sure to stop at each interval individually. I hope that makes sense. My brand new 06 Civic LX was starting a little hard in the colder weather and since I changed the way I start the car it starts perfectly every time. I hope this helps!

I wouldn't worry about the cold start. Like a previous poster said, Hondas are like that.

Either way, you should always wait a second before turning the final click in the ignition (to actually start the engine). This gives the fuel pump time to activate. Recommended for most cars.

Glad you're enjoying your new Civic. Thinking of getting one myself!

I think you need to use your 06 Camry's gas pedal a little more it's acceleration is nearly comparable to an auto trans 06 mustang gt and faster than an 04's the Honda civic won't keep up with an 06 Mazda MX-5 not even close.
