I bought my 1994 Infiniti J30 on New Year's Eve and had no problems with it, only the relay, which I fixed for 3.50US at a mechanic, and the struts that need to be changed, which I was quoted also for 110.00US. An excellent car, a real classic, very rare, and the best car I've ever driven.

Have a '93 J30 with 296,000 miles on it... still running strong, no problems. Have replaced transmission once. Only 3 tire changes (Toyo). Great vehicle!!!

My wife has a 1994 Infinity J30. It's just about in showroom condition. She keeps it mint. I keep suggesting something new car-wise, but she's not interested.

We bought the vehicle with around 54K. It now has 95K. It's got a black exterior and black internal leather. We've dealt with some of the inherent problems mentioned on this board like the Bose, front window motor and sunroof motor replacements. Also had the antenna problem where sometimes it had a mind of its own; rolled up and rolled down, stayed up at will. These were ALL fixed under warranty by the dealer. Pain in the assets to deal with, as they were!

My wife, when we purchased the car, INSISTED on a long warranty.. I was skeptical because it wasn't cheap. Well ALWAYS listen to your wife. It was worth the $2300, because the repairs came to 3 times that easy.

Beyond those, the car's been a dream. We just drove from LA to Rancho Mirage at 69 miles per hour (on cruise control) for the 120 miles there and back. 27 miles per gallon highway! All while cruising in the pure luxury of leather and Burlwood surroundings with the sunroof open in 100 degree weather and the A/C blasting.

We've gone with the Yokohama tires off www.tirerack.com. I highly recommend them; very solid at like 50 bucks a pop delivered!

This is a very underrated vehicle. I drive something much more expensive, and frankly the J holds its own quite nicely. Simply look at how many you still see on the road 13 years later.. that says it all.

We now get the car serviced at a local chain. Our warranty expired a while back. Hope this may be of interest to any fellow 1994 Infinity J30 owners.

About the "leather" restoration on the door panels... Can you give any contact information on the person that does it or more information about the "paint-on" technique? Thank-you!!

I have had problems with the rear speakers also, but I think I actually blew them out. I went to get them replaced with some kenwoods, but they said my sound system runs on 2 ohms resistance. Anyone know a good place to get some after-market 2 ohm speakers, or maybe some new rear speakers?

Also own a 1994 J-30, 105,000 miles, and find it to be a good performer; ride, acceleration, and road handling are superb! Niggling electricals, but this forum has helped!

Also agree with the negative comments about handling in the snow, but I know folks that insist on driving their 318/325s, and E cars in the snow also, and I wouldn't.

For the person with the Bose and Bose speaker problems, I've used Factory Car Stereo repair (posted above, http://carstereohelp.com/infiniti.htm) and they've been real good to work with.

Regards, Rick.

I bought mine with 142k on it for $3.500, invested additional $500 for replacing belts, brake rotors, brake pads and power steering pump. The biggest problem is a stiff wheel, even after replacing the power steering pump. I think the mechanic overloaded the power steering fluid container as the readings are well above max. Can that cause a stiff wheel? Did a transmission fluid flush as the old one was yellow/orange and this one is bright pink now. I have a famous headlight problem and problems with the tape on BOSE system. I fixed rear right speaker with one tube of crazy glue and it now has perfect bass. As for the noise that comes from under the vehicle, I had that and the problem was holding strap which was literally burned out of rust and heat. I bought some metal strap at a local auto-part store and fixed that somehow, the noise is almost not noticeable now. It is a great car overall, except for the gas consumption. Mine gets about 15mpg/22mpg highway. That is pretty high. Handling during winter is the biggest issue with this car as it is virtually uncontrollable at more than 2 inches of snow (even with MS tires). I bought a repair manual for it and I am planning to do a detailed check-up on it. In my opinion, this is a rock-solid brand and this particular model is a living legend;it deserves a remake.

I recently purchased a '94 J30T from an individual really cheap. $700. It is a wonderful car.

The only problems I have with it are these:

1. Dash lights do not work.

2. Put in after-market stereo and speakers and still having that "popping" sound on one side.

3. Sunroof leaks.

Other than that, I love the car. It had 162,000 miles on it when I bought it, and it still has plenty of power and gets good mileage.

If anyone can help me with the few small problems that I'm having, contact me at itttech06@yahoo.com, put in subject line j30. Thanks.

I have a 1995 J30 with 130K and recently when I get up to 60 mph, the check engine light will appear and stay on then go off. If I am expressway driving at 70+ the light does not come on. I put some Marvel Mystery Oil in the fuel tank before this happened. I am not sure if the sensors are detecting the additive or what. The light stays on for maybe 5-10 minutes and then disappears. Anyone know whats up???

I live in Palm Springs area and have a '94 J30) really love it. I bought it from the Beverly Hills area and am expecting it has had the timing belt changed. I wonder if there is anyway to check wear and tear etc. on the belt. If I go to PS Infinity they will insist on changing it for a fortune. I don't have all the records, but think maintenance was done. Love the car, I have had Caddy's BMW, Lexus and this is the best car. Also trouble with moonroof (so I don't use it) Has a mind of its own regarding the locking and unlocking system. It is funny when the alarm goes of on the passenger side when everything else is locked. Have 154K on it and really love the car better than any other. I am afraid of the timing belt though.

Truthhawk@gmail.com for any comments. Great car so far.

Has anybody found the solution to the doors automatically locking themselves and remaining so? I now have a 150k mile J30 1994 with three of the four door permanently locked. Help!

I bought a 95 J30 in February of this year and love it, but, I have a few problem with it.

My rear passenger window doesn't let down.

My sun roof doesn't work and it leaks.

My CD player doesn't work, I have a personal CD player with cassette deck (that goes in the tape deck) in order to play my CD's, and I need front and rear struts.

If you can help with any of these problems, please feel free to let me know. Thank you.
