2004 Jeep Liberty Limited 3.7 from North America

Summary:

DO NOT GET

Faults:

OK, first I bought the car in Oct of 2014, a beautiful metallic green, and I was absolutely loved this car. Two weeks to the day, I'm driving and I start noticing that I could not turn. I pull over and see that the pulley melted. So I fix that.

The next thing happens a week later, my car starts dying so I replace the battery.

Then a month later I notice my check engine light has come on, so I take it to Auto Zone, and they tell me I need a new gas cap.

A week after that my car starts shaking while I'm on the interstate. Horrified, I pull over I see this misty white smoke. I pop the hood and see that the reservoir tank has cracked and is now pouring anti freeze all over my spark plugs. I replace that; problem still not resolved. I take it to a nearby mechanic who charges $800 for a cracked manifold, new spark plugs, and a coil.

Finally today on my way home on the interstate once again, my car stops idling, and literally will not go over 30mph. My check engine does not come on until I get parked, then it's flashing on and off. Find out it's a catalytic converter - another $900. I will be taking it back to the dealer who sold it to me and it can be their problem.

General Comments:

Please reconsider the idea if you're thinking of even looking at this make and model of car. A huge waste of money. Be prepared to spend more than it's worth. It seemed to be one thing after another.

Nothing!!!

This baby has never let me down. Had to replace the battery, and the water pump went at 250,000 km.

I will definitely buy another.

An amazing SUV, handles great in all weather conditions.

Easy to drive, everything in the cabin is close at hand, absolutely no complaints on this ride.

2004 Jeep Liberty from North America

Summary:

Taking it to the dealer to check out what's wrong with it, or if I'm at fault

Faults:

When on black ice, my Liberty spins in a circle when the brakes are applied. This has happened to me four times, twice on the highway. Fortunately, because of the short wheelbase, I didn't hit anything, just a curb or snowbank. I put my Liberty away for the winter, but will be trading it in.

We also own a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which I believe saved my son's life when he was t-boned by a drunk driver. Love the Grand Cherokee! It presents no problems on ice. We live in Calgary.

General Comments:

My friends love the look and ride of the Liberty. It's fun to drive as long as you have it under control.

When on black ice the worst thing you can do is apply brakes. If you do then any vehicle WILL spin round out of control. You should take your foot off the accelerator and keep on driving.

2004 Jeep Liberty Renegade 3.7L from North America

Summary:

Second Jeep I've owned, I'll probably buy another someday

Faults:

Check engine light goes on in my 2004 Jeep Liberty Renegade.

Still runs/performs normally.

General Comments:

Have not had any of the problems other owners have had. So far it appears to be the gas cap not being tightened enough, causing the air flow sensor to go nutty.

That's it... so far.

2004 Jeep Liberty from North America

Summary:

It is a great vehicle if Jeep would back up and check out some of the complaints on it

Faults:

Pulls to the right.

Windows mechanisms broken.

General Comments:

The car has always pulled to the right, and it took a Goodyear dealer to find the problem when Jeep could not.

I will keep it until the wheels fall off!

Faults:

Nothing - replaced tires and all 4 brakes at 55,000 miles - that's it!

General Comments:

It is quick, responsive, can cruise easily at 85 mph on the interstate.

Decent gas mileage for a 4WD with V-6; 16 city, 22 highway.

4WD is great on snow and ice.
