2004 Jeep Liberty Sport 3.7L from North America

Great, so far, and reliable 4x4 performance--what you want from a Jeep

General Comments:

The Liberty does not have enough storage places. I had to build a large carpeted box to hold stuff like a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, gloves and the like. As well, the glove box is very small for a SUV.

I am not pleased with the brakes. They are adequate, but should be more beefy for a heavy vehicle like the Liberty.

The transmission housing creeps into the cab. As a result I cannot place my right foot flat on the floor in front of me when I am at idol or in cruise control. The same for the passenger only it is the left foot affected.

The back seats do not lay flat.

The Liberty is hard on gas!

However, so far I am very pleased with the Liberty. It rides more like a truck then other SUV's of comparable sizes that I test drove. I have run it up a 40 degree hill in 20cm of snow in four low and had to hit the brakes at the crest. There is lots of power and lots of torque!

It is stylish. My first modification will be a "lift kit".

Almost instant heat--here in Canada's North Eastern area that feature is great!

Lots of head room (I am 6 feet tall) and a nice view of the road from the cockpit.

Lot's of SUV owners complain about fuel mileage. I recommend they stop their whining and live with it; or get rid of it and get a car or minivan.

To go with the first comment. Get a four cylinder if you want great gas mileage.

Why not buy a diesel the 2.8 CRD that I own is great on the fuel and allthough it is noisier than other diesels I have had it has lots of power in reserve when you need it.

So what if its not quick, but hey I never bought a jeep to be a racing driver I bough it for its great off road ability.

2004 Jeep Liberty Limited V6 from North America

Great vehicle, if it would just drive straight

From the first day we took it home, there was a pull to the right. sometimes harder than others. The dealer did an aligment to correct the problem, but it still persists today. Have taken it back three times and am taking it back again.

General Comments:

Other than the pulling to the right, the Liberty is a great vehicle. Nice ride, comfortable, easy to get around in.

As for the pulling, have them check the lower ball joint. There is a recall going out on the 02-03 Liberty's. It shouldn't affect you, but it sounds like they might have accidentally put a bad one in yours.

Jeep On!

I had the same problem with my Jeep Liberty. I solved this by relocating the Battery. There is more space and less heat for the Battery problem if you relocate the Battery to underneath the Air Filter Box. I hope this helps.
