2000 Lincoln LS V8 from North America

Summary:

After owing, I regret trading in my BMW

Faults:

Air conditioning compressor line leaked. Cost $800 to repair.

Rear window regulator failed. Repaired under warranty. Dealer did admit they see many LS with bad regulators, but no recall.

Rear wheel bearing failed at 50K miles.

Air conditioning malfunctioned by blowing hot air out driver side while blowing cold air out passenger side. Took dealer one week to repair under warranty.

Wheel lug bolts have a steel decorative cover which easily bends and makes bolt removal very difficult. It becomes impossible to use proper socket for removal.

Center interior console is made from plastic which squeaks and rattles if used with quality and finish not consistent with brand name.

General Comments:

I wanted this car since I saw it in 2000.

It has tremendous power and handling characteristics.

Interior is comfortable.

Split drop down seats are terrific.

Fuel mileage for V-8 is good (city 22, hwy. 27)

2000 Lincoln LS from North America

Faults:

I recently bought this car about 1 month ago. Two weeks ago I went to a party with my cousins. When I returned home later that night I found my cars back window shattered all over my drive way. Someone had threw a very large rock through my cars rear window and not only did it break my window completely it left scratches on the trunk. I then went to go get an estimate for the replacement of the car window and they are charging me $1,000 for the window because it had a built in antenna and it's a very hard window to find.

General Comments:

Am I being cheated out of my money for the replacement of this window? If so, what is the cost for the replacement of this window? Can anyone help me out with this.

2000 Lincoln LS V6 from North America

Summary:

It is reliable

Faults:

Car has always made a loud "humming" noise above 55 MPH.

The driver's seat heating element was replaced twice, once under warranty. Replacement was expensive.

Drivers Seat back came off, but it was fixed during warranty.

Now the power steering is very squeaky and needs repair.

General Comments:

I find the car reliable and comfortable, but not "quiet" inside for a luxury car.

2000 Lincoln LS V8 Premium Sport 4.9L from North America

Summary:

This thing is truly one hot rod Lincoln - buy one!

Faults:

We got water in the headlights which were replaced under warranty - no problems since - it seems the new headlights that were installed were a slightly different design.

We had problems with both (!) rear windows which were also fixed under warranty.

Had a transmission reprogram which solved some issues with the manual shifting not reacting quick enough to shifts.

General Comments:

This thing handles wonderfully. Sticks to the road like the painted center line while bathing you in comfort the whole time. Seats are very comfortable (wish I had the newer model with the air conditioned seats too) and the interior is well laid out. I wish the cup holders were bigger, but have seen the new ones at dealers and see that they've fixed this issue. The dash is well laid out - easy to read at a glance.

This thing will burn rubber and slide around corners if you want it to, or leave the traction control on and watch this beauty keep you in complete control with no worries. I was a bit worried buying a rear wheel drive in these Canadian winters, but this car is very sure footed in the snow and ice. The traction control really is a miracle - can't recommend it enough. But pour some clorox on the tires and watch the smoke pour off!!! I can almost hear that Dukes of Hazzard horn. Yes I know it's not a Chrysler but it is one powerful North American I'd recommend.
