1993 Mazda MX3 review from North America

Replaced timing belt just for security. It had around 132,000 on it when I purchased. I've driven car for around 30,000 miles, and only had to replace brake pads <so far so good>

If there was ever a car that looks faster than it is, its gotta be the MX3. Has a timeless, sporty look. Hard for others to believe it's a 93 model. Like I said, no true power. When you're on the highway, however, there's a hint of pep, when traveling over 65. I've done several things to improve the power. K&N intakes are a little expensive <$200> but provides noticable added HP. I also installed a cheap <$80> exhaust and noticed even more pep. Perhaps even to V-6 standards. Just a set of headlight blackouts, makes an already sporty car look hot!!

There's also two body kits available, that'll make it look like a $30,000 sports car.

Despite its lack of true power, the MX3 handles well. You can easily add two more speakers. Enough trunk space for a good size sub enclosure, two amps and still enough space left for other things. The AC gets cold, but it'll slow you down to nearly cutting off <in my 5-speed anyhow>. Just for the heck of it. Try climbing in the backseat. I'm only 5'8 but have to tilt my head. Would never ride in the rear over 50 miles. Overall, for a car I paid less than $4,000 for, the MX3 has been reliable and trustworthy. With a little care and a few mods, it's a real head turner!!!
