Transmission keeps going out since the 1st week we took delivery.. keep replacing.. so far $8,000 in warranty work done.. Mitsubishi will not pay another dime because car was abused and is high mileage.
I am a 50 year old woman driving this car.. manuals all my life.. I think there is a serious defect with the car causing the transmission to continue to go out.. repairing transmission is only a bandaid.. the car is at dealership for two weeks.. Never go out of town in it.. keep a cell phone and wrecker service number with me at all times.. I am so disappointed, besides paying 500 a month plus insurance, I still don't have a reliable car.
Beautiful sleek car.. gets lots of looks.
Unreliable.. embarrassed everytime I break down Feel like Mitsubishi should take this lemon back and discover the real problem as to why the transmission keeps exploding.
Very comfortable to drive.
Costs a lot to do maintenance work. Car requires a lot of maintenance.. so have a deep pocket to own one.
I too was about to buy an eclipse till reading up on them a little more... the problem with your tranny maybe what is called 'crankwalk'. It deals with the crank shaft and the tranny... not sure of all the details, but if you look it up on supercars.net's forum... you will find a lot of discussion about it. You may check with your dealer about that.
I'm kind of curious where you found a 4.0 liter eclipse. I own one love it and I've never seen an engine larger then 2.4 liters.
FYI crankwalk has nothing to do with your tranny. second your tranny is blowing my guess is because you own the lovely gs or rs model with the 420a motor which means your car is a lemon there is no fixing there is no repair there is nothing you can do, but sell that car owned one myself went through 3 trannys on that thing and 3 motors sell that bad boy quick and one more thing its not a mitsubishi product if you do own the 420a it's a dodge product so if you happen to own that motor or that trim level if you don't know the motor type take it to chrysler dodge they will have much much better luck fixing there own product considering they made it and mitsubishi didn't and ignore the crankwalk thing you do not have crankwalk you woulda burned up bearings already and heard a ticking coming from the bottom of your motor. but the best advice SELL it and don't hold mitsubishi accountable I tried doesn't work I hold dodge resonsible, people can tell you what they want it's a POS motor nothing better then a large paper weight now the 4g63 theres a real motor built strong and can handle power just look at the evo it's a monster. hopefully I helped ya enjoy.
