1993 Nissan Hardbody Pickup 2.4 liter (KA 24E) from North America

Summary:

Good no frills truck

Faults:

Starter @ 95,000 miles. Transmission went out at 110,000 miles. Airflow sensor bad at 130,000 miles (my fault though). New upper, lower A-arm ball joints, bushings, and 4 new tie rod ends at 135,000 miles, but I credit this to my four wheeling habit. Rebuilt top end of motor last week at 140,000 miles. One front hub has broken.

General Comments:

Good truck.

Reliable and fun.

Enough power to pull trailers and do work.

It's a beast off road.

1993 Nissan Hardbody Pickup SE-v6 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

A decent if kept stock truck

Faults:

Needed new transmission right when I bought it, $2,000.

Paint was chipping/rusting around 80,000 miles, $2,000.

Lifted truck three inches and all went sour after that. Replaced center link twice (85,000 miles), tie rods twice (85,000).

Motor started knocking around 90,000 miles.

Transmission strated to leak after 90,000 miles. I had to pull the tranny just to get to the seal.

The torsion bars started to sag around 90,000 miles.

Had to get professionally aligned probably a dozen times throughout owning the vehicle.

General Comments:

Started off as a decent, high maintance truck. I should have left the truck stock and not put bigger tires and a lift on. Keep an eye out for the transmission as they are very pricey.

Parts are outrageously expensive on these trucks because they are manufactured outside of the U.S.A.

I probably literally dumped 8K into the truck and only got 3K back out.

I would recommend keeping the truck stock because the front ends are built poorly and any change will result in misery, trust me.

However, keep it stock and treat it right and it should, keyword, should treat you the same.

1993 Nissan Hardbody Pickup Regular Cab 2.4 gasoline I4 from North America

Summary:

A very good value

Faults:

I've had to replace a starter relay three times. Usually about 2-3 years.

I replaced the O2 sensor mistakenly. Thought that was the problem, but it was cheap ignition replacement parts.

Always use genuine Nissan ignition parts.

The EGR system clogged up at 146000 miles. The cheap parts above the main reason. The Austin, Tx dealer cleaned the system and fuel injectors. No problem since.

Replaced the clutch at 156000 miles.

General Comments:

This is my second Nissan truck. They are solid reliable vehicles.

When this truck was only a week old I almost destroyed it. Three thousand and some dollars later it was fixed. Not many vehicles would hold up like my Little Red.

1993 Nissan Hardbody Pickup XE 2.4 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

The Most Reliable Truck, Period!!

Faults:

I have done very little to the truck, such as new O2 sensor which wasn't needed, battery terminal cracked, but no big deal ($2 repair), it kills gas (200 miles to the tank) but there is no trace of leakage anywhere so hopefully there is nothing wrong with the injectors, and there is a noise that seems to be coming from the engine fan (possibly the bearing), and it leans a little bit on the passenger side, but besides that its OK.

General Comments:

First off I bought the truck off Ebay which wasn't such a great idea, but if people knew how to take care of a vehicle this truck would be in mint condition, but we live in a world with a lot of idiots (sorry, but its true). I really do love this truck!!! 4X4 works awesome, trans is good, engine is solid, needs a few minor repairs, but everything will be gravy once I'm finished. My next vehicle will most likely be Japanese unless it's a Ford F-Series.

I think the sound on your truck is the water pump bearings because is doing the same thing. Mine leans to the passenger side, about 1/4", but I can't figure out what it is.

1993 Nissan Hardbody Pickup SE-V6 4X4 3.0L from North America

Summary:

Great Truck - Nissan is Quality

Faults:

Nothing major (cross my fingers). Only routine wear and tear.

Previous owner took good care of it. I replaced shocks, drive belts, parking brake adjustment.

On outside of truck top of windshield that borders roof is starting to slightly rust. Touch up paint is fixing this.

Not as tight of a steering radius as I would have expected.

General Comments:

4X4 works great.

Very reliable truck, a true Nissan.

Built in Smyrna, TN.

Wish it had a little better acceleration, but used to have 2001 V-8 Dodge Ram 1500 so I was spoiled.

Drives great on highway.

Gets 20 miles to the gallon.

Economical, practical and reliable truck. I love it.
