1995 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

What a deal

Faults:

1.Alternator

2.Water Pump

3.02 Sensor x2.

General Comments:

This is a GREAT car for the money. It has amazing pickup for a little car. If you are looking for one of the most reliable cars that there is, then you have found it. These things just keep on running and you just can't kill them. This makes a great first car, because it has good handling and GREAT pickup. This car is a great deal, period, and still runs like new after 155000 miles!! Buy one and you will not regret it.

1995 Nissan Maxima GLE from North America

Summary:

Good, reliable quick-running car

Faults:

The factory Bose stereo is terrible. I bought it with 3 blown speakers. They are self-amplified and the head unit provides no power. Therefore, replacing the speakers with anything other than Bose will not work. In addition to the speakers, recently for the last 2 months the head unit has a CD that it will not release or play and it turns itself completely off, whether I'm listening to a cassette or the radio. This is very frustrating and to replace the head unit and 4 speakers with some good quality parts plus labor will run $1000.

After owning it 2 years I have replaced the CV boots, 4 tires, starter, spark plugs, and given it the manufacturer's 60K mile recommended maintenance.

Also, the wood-grain on the dash is only stick on over the black plastic and looks like it got too hot. It is cracking and peeling.

General Comments:

Good car, has 195 factory hp. After installing a K&N air filter it has 200 hp. Mine is an automatic and has plenty of power, more noticeably on the high-end, (passing someone on the highway) A manual anything would likely smoke it off the line. I like the maneuverability, smooth ride, comfortable leather seats, and the moonroof.

1995 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0L DOHC 24v from North America

Summary:

Best car in its class for the money

Faults:

Replaced front 02 sensor and knock sensor.

Replaced front strut mounts.

Replaced EGR solenoid valve.

General Comments:

With the given mileage of the car, I was expecting things to go wrong.

Check engine light did not go on to detect malfunction of knock sensor. Dealer had to manually extract this code. Dealer had quoted me $500 to replace this!! $250 for parts and $250 labour. I did not fall for this scam. I was referred to a website maxima.org to find out alternate methods on how to fix... Thanks to this website, this part only costs me $90 from Ebay, and I installed this myself in about 20 minutes.

After replacing this part, this car felt quicker.. significantly quicker. This car has some serious power mated with the 5 speed.

This car is very comfortable, especially on the highway

With regular maintenance, this car will hopefully last for another 100k!

I have a 1996 Maxiam that has a faulty EGR solenoid valve. That's what the computer code blinked out (1005). There are 3 solenoid valve that looks exactly a like. Do you know which one it is? Each have a different colored electrical connector: brown, black, and green.

Its the green one.

1995 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0L from North America

Summary:

In my opinion, this car is a superb car to be 9 years old

Faults:

At 78,000 miles, my left oxygen sensor went bad casing my check engine light to appear.

My left CV shaft cracked at 77,000 miles.

My starter went at 78,000 miles while conveniently at the shop getting a tune up.

A big piece of icy snow caused my left fog light to fall out which was $200 bucks.

General Comments:

The acceleration on this car is great. It's like a wolf compared to my 88 Camry. I love the look of the car, especially my spoiler.
