1995 Nissan Primera eGT 2.0 16v petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A very underestimated family sports hatch

Faults:

Nothing serious at all, the only main problem was the driver's electric window packed in which was a simple enough job to repair.

General Comments:

A very underestimated family sports hatch. The handling is very good and even better now I've lowered it and put on a set of 17" alloys!

The engine is well laid out, is good for home maintenance, and is quite powerful for a 2.0 16v, it has a nice power band at about 4700rpm and is brilliant for overtaking.

The car has done 120,000 miles but drives like it's done 50,000.

The condition of the leather interior is as new and the paintwork is pretty mint as well.

Excellent fuel consumption and good insurance.

1995 Nissan Primera eGT 2.0 16v 150hp from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Great fun, fast and leaves a smile on your face every time

Faults:

Driver's side drive shaft snapped.

Front brakes warped.

General Comments:

Pretty fast even with 16" alloys on. Superb handling even better with bigger wheels and 30mm lowering kit, have had 145mph no problem and feels like it could go faster.

Brakes are easily warped, fit an uprated set and it will haul up no problem.

Massive inside, seats four or five no problem.

Would rather have the eGT than the newer GT as it is a fair bit faster.

1995 Nissan Primera LX 1.6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

I like it, the badge should read GTI not LX!

Faults:

Nothing, nothing is broken, no repairs needed.

General Comments:

Fastest car I've owned, will do 130mph without fuss yet is cheap to insure. Embarrasses many performance cars!

Feels and looks very well made, no oil leaks or rattles. Well equipped, roomy, huge boot (hatch) and very relaxing to drive.

In a 1600cc are you sure! If you think that is fast then I think you need to try a 2.0 egt.

1995 Nissan Primera GT 2.0 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Superb car, you will be impressed

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Superb car, I was impressed when I bought the car and every now and again the car still impresses me, even after the 20,000+ miles I have done.

Performance is very much underestimated. The handling is great apart from wet weather, you have to be extra careful, the back end can slide away in tight corners.

Great value for money and superb build. The only bad thing is the odd rattle here and there, but then again it is getting on a bit now. It seems to use a lot of oil as well (more then any other car I've had). Check the oil regularly.

Large enough to do whatever you need to (hatchback), moving etc.

1995 Nissan Primera eGT 2.0 16v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Looks aren't everything

Faults:

Changed two upper ball joints on the front suspension.

New clutch just fitted (not self adjusting like on most modern cars, previous owner did not check it therefore it wears quicker, so check it at least every service).

General Comments:

Not as quick as I thought, being 150 bhp, but reasonably fast if you use all the revs, once over 4-4500 revs it's a flying machine. Suspension quite firm giving a hard ride, especially over uneven roads, but I like that.

Plenty of room in the hatchback. Standard features are good too with ABS, electric windows, CD, two air bags, leather seats to mention just a few. Good all round reliability, speed, handling and gadgets. In all I'd have another!

1995 Nissan Primera LX 1.6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A great reliable car

Faults:

Rear suspension, links replaced at 36k and 52k. Front upper O/S upper link replaced at 56k - could buy a replacement link at 120 pounds from Nissan - took the option to make a replacement nylon bush for pennies (owner of a lathe).

General Comments:

Oil filter is a pain to change (oil runs down your arm when changing!)

This car is a great family car - still the original exhaust!!!!!

Car has had a hard life including towing a caravan - will seriously consider another very soon!

1995 Nissan Primera eGT 2.0 16v petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Nothing much so far except slight squeek from boot.

General Comments:

Great car to drive with plenty of boot. Handles great and is pretty rapid. Could do with larger wheels, more aggressive look and better exhaust note but otherwise a brilliant motor.
