The only thing that has gone wrong with this car since I had it is the windshield wiper sprayers freeze up too easy.
This car drives like a dream!!
I have not owned or driven a 4 cylinder in several years, and was I surprised at the power this car has!
For alero owners with crappy wiper blades gm will replace them for up to 6 months after purchase I did and it made a great difference. If your just going out to buy some get the wipers with teflon coating.. stops ice build up.
Great car, I bought mine used with 18000 km on it.
Couple cosmetic problems:
- rear seat - where the cushion bottom buckles down - its broken.
- the knob for the fan speed broke when it was cold out one day
- front brakes have gone spongy and something squeaks when I press on the brake. Not sure yet what that squeak is yet.
Still have my 5 year warranty, so they better honor it when I take it in to fix these problems.
Otherwise - it drives like a dream.
I had a Grand am before I bought the Alero and there is no comparison. The alero is quiet even starts up fast, but quiet. It is easy to handle, it has everything you could want in a car for less money. You don't even feel the bumps in the road you glide along. I love it and ask myself many times why I never thought of test driving an Olds-both of these cars are made by the same company, but they are two different grades of cars. I will definitely get another Alero. I am really pleased with it-mine is 2004-2 door car-power everything.
