1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SL 3.4L V6 from North America

Summary:

Great car for a single guy on a tight budget

Faults:

So far, for a car with nearly 100,000 on it already, not much has gone wrong that I didn't expect to on a car with these sort of miles.

General maintenance stuff. I did rupture a power steering hose, they had to drop the engine to fix that, blew a coolant hose (old hose, needed replacing) and I replaced a worn out ball joint on the front end.

General Comments:

My old car was an '83 Honda Accord with a four cylinder, so this was a step up to the 3.4 V6.

I love the car, it's smooth yet it still has that rough kinda performance feel which is a huge thrill on windy backroads, and while passing on the highway.

My dad has this type of car and it runs like a dream. You can't even hear it when it's on - you think its off. There are just a couple of problems - he has to do a left turn to get the wipers to work, but that was after 150,000. Over all, NICE car.

1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass 3.1 V6 from North America

Summary:

Smooth ride

Faults:

Wiper motor burned out.

General Comments:

Great car, it reminds me of riding down the road on my couch, that's how good this car rides. It has plenty of power for passing or anything else you need it for. The sound system is terrific but of course Delco usually is.

1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SL 3.1 V6 from North America

Faults:

Plenty, in only 40,000 miles. The engine computer has gone out and prevented the car from starting, the power windows stop working occasionally, the ABS brakes malfunction constantly, and the interior trim falls off.

General Comments:

This is a crappy car. It breaks down all the time. Supposedly, the 1994 model year was just a bad year for the Cutlass Supreme, and we can attest to it. If you get another year model, it should be more reliable. It will also accelerate decently and handle fairly responsively, but the ride is pretty choppy and the seats aren't particularly comfortable. It's a good drivetrain/chassis package, but look for the other GM twins of this car for better performance and reliability.

I've had my Cutlass since 94. Hasn't broke down on me once. It's very dependable and satisfying.

I bought the 3.4L 24 valve V-6. The thing flew!! I had so much fun. The interior ceiling drops a little (as it does with any car), and the seats are incredibly comfortable.

Ride and susension is good, along with traction in the winter.

I would say that if you have the money to spend on a car, BUY A 1994 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS SUPREME!!
