1995 Plymouth Neon Highline from North America

Summary:

Worst car in the world ever!

Faults:

Transmission blew three times since I owned the car.

Water pump gave out within one year of ownership.

The car constantly overheated.

When driving over speed bumps, even the smallest bump, the car would always scrap.

Constant wiring problems.

Brake lights, blinkers, lights were always going out.

General Comments:

If anyone is ever considering buying a car, new or used, never ever purchase a Plymouth Neon.

They suck.

Although I haven't heard as many problems with the Dodge Neon, go figure.

Worst car ever? Go buy yourself a Peugeot, Renault or any French made car and You'll know about the worst cars in the whole wide world, maybe only rivaled by the Yugoslavian made cars.

1995 Plymouth Neon Sport Coupe 2.0 DOHC from North America

Summary:

One Mean 4 Cylinder

Faults:

My head gasket blew at 75,000 kilometers. Had the complete head replaced. It was expected because early model neons were known for this.

Had three thousand dollars worth of work put into body and underneath of car. This is not because of car being faulty, this is because I had an accident with the car.

General Comments:

Even with all the work that was put in to the car the motor is still as strong as ever. Even with it at 200,000 kilometers it still runs smoothly.

The acceleration is extremely fast and it handles excellently, even on snowy and wet conditions.

The interior leaves something to be desired as sitting in the seat for a long period of time can become very uncomfortable.

1995 Plymouth Neon from North America

Summary:

A cute piece of crap!

Faults:

My power steering stopped in the middle of driving it and I almost hit a truck!

It is horrible in the snow. The brakes do not work that great in the winter. I have slid many times and I am afraid to drive it at all in the snow.

My passenger side window lets in a lot of air and it makes high pitched sounds.

General Comments:

It was a cute little car and I had no problems with it for the first few months. But then everything started to go wrong. From there it has just gone down hill.

The car drives great in the warmer months. But as soon as it gets cold the problems start.

I would never buy another Neon again!

1995 Plymouth Neon LX 4 cylinder 2 liter from North America

Summary:

A mediocre car, good if you can't afford anything better

Faults:

My head gasket blew at approximately 50,000 miles.

The body gets dented with very little pressure.

My transmission is going out at 77,000 miles.

My car was stolen twice. The police informed me that Neon's are very easy cars to steal. It is very easy to punch out the steering column and turn the ignition on.

I had to have the front brakes replace 2x.

General Comments:

The neon is not a comfortable car to ride in. You feel all of the bumps.

The car does not handle well on icy or wet roads.

Although not directly a fault of the car but of the dealer, I was also talked into purchasing an extended warranty. Now I am fighting with both the warranty company and the dealer because they are fighting paying for replacing the transmission. The dealer is trying to tell me that they don't even sell extended warranties on used cars (though my policy says 60 months or 100,000 miles), and the warranty company is trying to give me some story about when the actual start date of my policy was, and saying my warranty has already expired (though I didn't sign the papers until Dec. of 1997, and it is supposed to be good for 60 months). So... a word of caution. Be sure if you purchase an extended warranty on this vehicle you know what you are getting.

1995 Plymouth Neon Base 2.0 Litre SOHC from North America

Summary:

Overall a cheap bargain

Faults:

My front wheel bearing started to make noises just after 2000 km.

Terrible wind noises during highway cruising.

The right left speaker blew and makes terrible noises.

During rapid acceleration the car does not shift properly the gears shifter seems to disengage.

The heater takes awful long time to heat up.

$25 bucks of gas for 250 km long trip.

The factory exhaust rusted out badly and had to replace it with an Ractive racing after market unit.

During rain the rain comes in the driver's side due too bad geometry of the vehicle.

Alternator was gone at 83000 km.

General Comments:

I had own a 96 dodge intrepid before and when switched over to neon I felt pretty disappointed.

Extreme wind noises during highway cruising cause irritation.

Although car handles really well I have not own this car for long time, but I think I will keep it since its easy to get parts for this car.
