2000 Pontiac Grand Am from North America

Summary:

Do not ever buy one... ride a bike instead

Faults:

I own a 2000 Grand Am SE, and let me tell you I have had every problem almost that everyone is talking about!

Right now, when I'm driving, and I can just be driving in a straight line, there is that darn squeak in the front end! My husband has just done the brakes... rotors and all, and still the squeak. I have had it, I am totally fed up... gasoline and a match are so much cheaper!!

2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.4 V6 sfi from North America

Faults:

Front brake problems, rotors warping prematurely.

Car overheating a little bit, but was fixed with a new thermostat.

Replaced new serpentine belt.

2 leaking coolant lines, but was fixed with two new hoses and clamps.

Other than that haven't had any problems, but I have to sell it for money for school.

Now I have a 1985 Buick Regal, totally redone, and I love it.

Summary:

This car is amazing, comfortable, fast and stylish

Faults:

My heads blew at 206,000 at 125mph.

Dash is lifting.

General Comments:

This car is fast. It handles good, and burns rubber great.

Downshifting makes the car launch like real bad. No traction till I hit maybe 45 mph.

Very comfortable and stylish. The sunroof is amazing with the ladies.

Love it as my first car

Door panel covers need re-glued.

Not much else to complain about.

Great first car for me, doesn't go 0-60 fast, but 40 and up goes quick.

2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE 1 3.4L from North America

Summary:

I will never trust a GM vehicle again

Faults:

So I currently own a 2000 Grand Am. I purchased it in '01, and have had numerous problems with it.

36000 miles, the PS line cracked; the dealer's response, you need a new rack... $1200. I had it rigged for $60.

The brake light shorted out around 60000.

Numerous ignition problems including the lock cylinder, which has been replaced 3x, and the switch itself... $300+ per repair.

The intake gaskets were also replaced at about 60000 miles.

The warning lights come on for no reason and shut off within a day or so... no reason why this happens.

The brakes have been replaced far too many times. The battery also must be replaced often.

The turn signal switch malfunctions, causing a clicking sound that NEVER stops.

I have always had problems with hard or hesitant starts, GM has no idea why.

The engine light is on... an emissions leak, NOT the gas cap; again GM doesn't know why.

The passenger side front window worked when it wanted to, then fell off the track. This was followed by the back passenger window falling off its track.

The mirrors have all fallen off... yes, I said they fell off.

The heat/AC resistor has broken 4 times. The clock/radio display no longer illuminates.

The dash cover is now peeling up towards the windshield.

I am sure there's more I forgetting, but this is enough... no more GM. I busted my butt to pay for this car, and have had nothing but problems in return. I have maintained this vehicle according to the manual, and still numerous expensive problems... thanks.

2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE from North America

Faults:

My 2000 Pontiac Grand Am has been very good to me over 5 years..

However I have encountered a few issues, and maybe I can get some feedback on what to do...

The security light was coming on, and I was doing the whole turn your key for up to 5 minutes, and it would reset. Now it won't go off; it's on while I drive...

Sometimes it cuts off for no reason. It varies; sometimes I can drive for 30 minutes, and sometimes it may be 5 minutes. The car starts right back up... for now.

The blinkers do not work at all. Neither do the hazard lights, this is very dangerous I know. I've replaced bulbs; NO HELP!

The low coolant light was coming on and I would notice the fan humming after I cut the car off if I ran my air. I added some leak stop stuff to the coolant reservoir. It helped; have not had to add any coolant lately.

As for the security light, I just want to disable it, how can I do that myself?

Thanks for reading.

The hazard light is the problem with the blinkers not working, and once you replace the switch on the dash above the radio, it stops clicking and the blinkers work. It's been recalled in the past.
