1992 Pontiac Grand Am SE review from North America
"An excellent, easy to maintain car for the do-it-yourself owner"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The most expensive was that the cylinder head cracked at 130000 miles which was 30000 miles past what GM would replace it at. The cracked cylinder head was a manufacturing defect.
A check engine light on occasions where the cooling fan would also run. This normally occurred at start-up and after a few minutes of operating, the fan would cut off and the check engine light would go off. A check of computer codes displayed reference to the knock sensor. By unplugging the temp. sensor on the intake manifold, the same condition could be duplicated. Technician suggested, if it doesn't effect how the car runs, then leave it alone.
General comments?
Overall, this car has paid for itself several times over. I can't bring myself to get rid of it.
