1995 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1 from North America

Summary:

A fun, sporty car

Faults:

The brakes needed to reaplacing at 80000 miles.

The alternator went out at 95000 miles.

The CD player skips now.

General Comments:

I'm a younger woman driver and I just LOVE the way the car looks and feels! All my friends like to take my car when we go out and a lot of guys look at it too! The interior is awesome! I love the power seat and the leather. Mine has the ground effects package and the heads up display thing too, and now that I'm used to it, I love it! I spend too much money on gas because we go out crusing a lot in it. I'm really petite, so the seats are really important for me and the ones in the Grand Prix are super comfy and easy t adjust. When I accelerate, guys want to race me all the time.

I love this car!

1995 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 3.4L from North America

Summary:

Sporty and very comfortable

Faults:

Alternator went out, Cruise control stopped working at 120,000. Brakes squeel and vibrate.

General Comments:

The car is a dream to drive, I love the way it feels.

The interior is leather and is very luxurious and nice.

The seats are extremely comfortable, I love getting into them and my wife, who is tall and very thin, loves driving the car because of the roominess and comfortable seating.

Maintenance-wise, it is atrocious, though, very costly to maintain.

OH MY GOD, DO I AGREE WITH YOU! everything you wrote that you have replaced, I have also replaced, mine is a 1995, and I have replaced everything on this car, now I'm having problems overheating, have changed the water pump, and its still overheating, changing the thermostat again! I will never buy another Pontiac again... I've sunk way to much money into this car for it to be worth it... braking system rots, the heating system rots, rides nice yes! when its not broken down, I've kept my mechanic working, and I'm paying!

My 1998 Grand Prix (I bought new) has had the brakes replaced numerous times, rotors turned, alternator replaced, most of the trim and knobs inside have fallen off, something to do with transmission when it was less than 6 months old, power window on the drivers side is now broken. Recently overheated (118,000 miles) replaced the thermostat, water pump, had the radiator flushed and is still overheating. I have now been told the head gasket needs replaced or head is cracked, or possibly the intake manifold cracked. Also cylinder # 4 is misfiring. It was not driven while hot. I pulled over and turned the motor off before the temp gauge got in the red and had it towed to prevent costly damage. I would not recommend a Pontiac! I just want to get it fixed and get another car.

1995 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1 V6 from North America

Summary:

A fast smooth ride

Faults:

Driver side door handle snapped off around 65,000 miles.

Driver side door and wheel wells started rusting around 60,000 miles.

The trunk leaked through the passenger side tail light when I got the car. It continued leaking even after it was sealed, but only into the tail light causing it to fog up when it rained.

The car always ran very hot, and burned more and more oil as it got older.

Air conditioning never worked well since the car was bought. When it was on, it sucked out most of the performance and acceleration.

The brakes were replaced twice in three years, and the tires are a little pricey due to their size.

Door handle broke again at 70,000 miles.

Oil light would stay on due to a bad oil pressure switch.

General Comments:

The car was great while I had it, and never failed to start even in the coldest winters.

On the thruway it was a dream to drive. Once you put the pedal down, the car would fly.

It was also a very quiet and smooth riding vehicle.

Despite the little things gone wrong that are expected at higher miles, it was a great car to own.
