2000 Pontiac Sunfire from North America

Summary:

Great sporty, inexpensive car

Faults:

Only have had two issues with the car. The first is the "Service" "ABS" and "Traction Off" lights coming on frequently. Have had one of the ABS Sensors changed, but still does it. Had it in to the shop (different one), and the put the scope on it while driving. All sensors show fine. They say it may be a loose plug or something.

The second is that the car stalls when changing gears. Seems to not do it as much if I wait a few seconds before and after shifting to move the car. No one can seem to find the problem. The car does not (at this time) stall while driving down the road, or refuse to start. (Probably just jinxed myself here...) Wondering if it is something to do with the transmission.

Has anyone else had these problems? I have read everyone's comments, but can't find these specific issues in them.

General Comments:

Other than these two issues, I love the car. It is fun to drive, and gets good gas mileage. I'd trade in for a new model, but they don't make it anymore (I have the 4-door).

In case anyone reads this and wonders about the problem, the second shop I took the car to found the problem. It was a bad connection in one of the ABS sensors (I guess the ABS system is tied somehow to the tranny), anyway, after fixing the bad connection, and repairing a marginal one, I have had no problems with the car. Cost was under $100.

2000 Pontiac Sunfire SX 2.2? from North America

Summary:

A durable, and reliable car

Faults:

In four years, we have replaced the muffler, and battery.

General Comments:

Since buying the car used in 2002, we have had no problems with it.

Much of the driving we do is in the mountains, and in hard winters, and it has held up well.

I can't think of any major things we don't like about it. Good visibility, comfortable for a small car, and nice handling on mountain corners.

It has good traction and road ability.

I would recommend this car to anyone as a primary or second car, for durability, ease of handling, and good gas mileage!

2000 Pontiac Sunfire GT convertible 2.7 from North America

Faults:

I also own a 2000 Pontiac sufire gt, and HAD AND STILL DO HAVE MULTIPLE ISUES with my headlamps, and my light switch, I had brought it to a dealership and I told them before I dropped the car off "don't' tell me that the problem is that I need a new switch, because I already have put in a switch two times prior, and it last for a few months, and some wiring problem is causing it to burn out"I need to figure it out. so they ended up telling me it was the switch and they said I need to pay $375 to fix the switch in order for them to figure out what the problem is.. Its just a continuing headache.. I think someone is about to start up a class action suit.

General Comments:

I would never reccomend this car to anyone.

Hello, I have read your comments on this car and I have had the same problems as well... After my third "multi-unit-switch" I lost my cool. Yet I learned it was the Wiring Harness that clips into the multi unit switch. I had that re-wired and have not had a problem since with it. Hope this helps!!! :D.

2000 Pontiac Sunfire GT 2.4 from North America

Summary:

I would buy another one

Faults:

The car has been great, I change the oil every 5000KM and grease everything. The car has 220000km on it and all I have done is rewire the headlights, the brakes and a wheel bearing. I did all the work myself so it has been pretty cheap. The body is in great shape too.
