2003 Saturn ION 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Cheaply made

Faults:

One month after I paid it off and the warranty expired, it developed front end noise.

A CD player that is intermittent at best.

And the ignition has started to give me problems.

The battery and charging system is good, and it seems to be the ignition switch.

I too will be pushing for a recall on the switch and its lubricant.

Thanks for the info in the other reviews.

General Comments:

The car was cheap, and gets great mileage.

I guess got what I paid for.

It still is no excuse for selling junk.

2003 Saturn ION 2.2 from North America

Summary:

It is not worth it

Faults:

The seat belt holders on the head rest broke off way too easily, after having the car for two years. The dealer will not allow you to purchase them. They have to install them for safety reasons.

The ignition became a problem about the same time. We took it to a Saturn dealer. They said they could not find a problem with it. So we just dealt with it. Took it back the following winter and they tried to fix the problem. All they did was replace the ignition. Now we have a problem with getting the key in and out.

We have had other problems too, and contacted the corporate office and they are no help with their product.

The sunroof leaks when the car is sitting on uneven ground. The window seals on the suicide doors are falling apart.

General Comments:

The car handles bad in wet and snowy conditions.

The inside of the car is way too small. The sides are nothing but a big blind spot. The windows seals are lousy.

2003 Saturn ION 3 from North America

Faults:

This car is terrible. Drove it 5 days a week to work only 6 miles away. The transmission went on it with 33k miles, we had a 3yr/36k mile warranty, Saturn dealer wouldn't even talk about working something out, they gave me a price of $3,000 for a new one that I could put in myself, not even sure what it would cost for them to put it in.

I made the last payment on the car and was looking to enjoy it for a couple years without a payment, just bought a Toyota. This car is a piece of crap.

2003 Saturn ION 3 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Generally could be a very good car, however again the issues stated would prevent another purchase

Faults:

Front suspension bushings need replacing, car only has 30000 K.. dealer made no attempt to help cover the costs to correct.

Known starting issue in cold temperatures as already stated from other owners. Dealer made no attempt to cover any replacement cost or acknowledgment of the issue.

Heater fans chirps as already stated from other owners. Again the dealer is not interested in correcting, as they said warranties do not cover this issue nor the other issues.

General Comments:

Overall the car handles and drives very nice, sound levels acceptable, acceleration good, fairly good on gas. I would not buy another from Saturn due to the issues and lack of interest to correct or cover any costs associated.

2003 Saturn ION Ion 3 Sedan from North America

Summary:

Won't buy it again!!!

Faults:

I have had numerous issues with my Saturn almost since Day 1.

My first issue was that the car would turn off when I would stop at a red light, slow down for a toll, or be in traffic. I brought the car on over 8 times, and kept being told they couldn't duplicate the problem. After numerous calls with Corporate to get it fixed, it turned out it was the Idle Air Control Valve.

I have had to replace the front sway bar bushings countless times.

A few winters ago I was having trouble getting the car to start, which was finally fixed (something with the ignition).

My new problem started 2 winters ago. When it is cold, the car accelerates on its own. If I try to stop or slow the car down, it is difficult and the engine revs. I have almost had numerous accidents. One time the car was driving itself; it went over 100 miles an hour and I had to pull on the shoulder, throw the car in neutral and kill it because I couldn't get it to stop. Of course Saturn can't duplicate the problem.

We thought it was the cruise control, so we pulled the fuse, which seemed to work last year, and the first day the temp went to 30 degrees, it happened again. Can't wait to get rid of this car!

General Comments:

I love the car itself. It was a great size, comfortable for me.

I was in a few fender benders with no damage to the exterior of the car. I wouldn't mind having issues with the car if Saturn was at all helpful in trying to determine and resolve the problem.
