2003 Saturn ION Automatic from North America

Faults:

In the last 5 months we had almost $2,000 in repairs--we had to replace the control arms and the struts.

The steering belt is faulty and grates, and the brakes squeak at times.

General Comments:

I love the style and design of the car. It also has great pick-up.

2003 Saturn ION Ion 2 2.2 Liter from North America

Summary:

Trying to rip off the blue collar workers!

Faults:

Do Not buy a 2003 Saturn Ion With the CVT (Constantly Variable) Transmission, GM does not build a rebuild kit for this transmission and the dealership and any other place wants $4800 for a new one! They quit putting them in the car because they knew it was a faulty transmission. Don't let Saturn give you NO for a answer, go to the Attorney General and file a complaint, they WILL get you taken care of! No transmission specialist I have spoken with expect these trannys to last over 100,000 miles, which is pathetic for a car. BEWARE! My car had just over 88,000.

General Comments:

Smooth ride until this happened. Also finding a lot things seem to come apart. Plastic pieces in fenders and around bumper. Not well built.

2003 Saturn ION 2 from North America

Summary:

CRAP in cold weather

Faults:

My car won't start up when it's cold. I have a 2003 Saturn Ion 2. Apparently there is a recall on this car for the ignition problems.

I called Saturn and they told me based on my VIN that the recall is not on my car... CRAP.

I took it to the Saturn dealership for them to look at it, they said nothing was wrong with it. I KNOW something is wrong with it.

Saturn DOES need to be sued!!! I have 2 infants, so I can't wait 1 hour in the cold with my two babies waiting for this POS car to crank.

2003 Saturn ION from North America

Summary:

It is one problem after another!

Faults:

The day I bought my car the horn didn't work.

Air bags were not properly installed.

Windshield washer fluid was found in my brake fluid.

Cooling fan cracked.

Faulty turn signal connection, I had to replace the same bulb 3 times in 2 years.

No power coming from body control module causing other electrical problems.

Gear shifter gets stuck and won't go out of park until car warms up for a while.

The car jerks when I stop then go.

Hub caps will not stay on, the bolts have to be tightened every couple of weeks.

General Comments:

This car gets good gas mileage.

It was reasonably priced.

Was a good first car minus having to put a lot of work into it.

The material of the seats stains too easily.

2003 Saturn ION 2 2.2 from North America

Summary:

Obviously major problems, not disclosed

Faults:

Ignition switch locked up and car will not start. I'm seeing this is a problem on several websites. If you own a Saturn with an ignition issue, please file a complaint at: www.nhtsa.gov. This is the only way to trigger a recall for an obviously defective system.

General Comments:

Only had it 8 days, and it's sitting in a parking lot with the anti-theft system keeping it from starting.

2003 Saturn ION Level 2 Ecotec 2.2 from North America

Summary:

New or used, DON'T BUY A SATURN!

Faults:

-Imagine finding oil splattered all over the under-carriage and back of the car after a trip down the expressway... that happened to me!

-I can't open my trunk via the button inside the car anymore

-My keys won't turn the ignition at times, and whenever it does I can pull the key out when the car is still running!

-I lose wheel studs left and right! And at $16 a piece from the dealer it's getting very expensive to have to replace a lug (or two, or three) every couple of weeks!

-My car wouldn't start up one day after I had just turned it off (at a convenient store), not a click. Miraculously it cranked after about a half an hour. I took it to the dealer and they told me they fixed it, only to find that it did it again before I drove off of their lot!

General Comments:

I've been having several problems with this car. I promise you, I will never buy another Saturn again. The service was horrible, the salesman lied about the warranty, and the car is a lemon. What have I gotten myself into?
