2003 Saturn VUE 2.2 from North America

Summary:

Almost great

Faults:

The computer was replaced 3 times.

The Service Engine Soon light has been a constant problem ever since I drove it off the lot new!

General Comments:

It has enough power and gets OK gas mileage at 28+ mpg.

It has lots of room, and the seats are comfy for me.

2003 Saturn VUE from North America

Summary:

Trash

Faults:

While going around a curve today, the SES light and reduce power lite came on. Before I could stop the car stalled, causing a accident.

I went off the road hitting a ditch and tree. Coming up short from a river only by 10 feet. The airbags did not deploy. Luckily I was alone and did not have my 1 and 5 years old children with me.

I will never by another car from Saturn.

General Comments:

After reading several blogs about the Saturn Vue, I think something should be done with this car and company before someone gets hurt or killed.

2003 Saturn VUE AWD V6 from North America

Summary:

Lemon, buy a different type or go with a different brand

Faults:

I am so glad to have found this review page.

My 2003 VUE, which is a limited edition Yellow sport package, has been nothing but a nightmare.

I bought the car, paid it off last year of 2008 so I have now had this vehicle over 6 years.

It has been nothing but headaches and is a nightmare. I used my extended warranty quite often every year on top of extra fees. Dealer even has paid for parts at some points because of the on going financial mess this vehicle has caused.

I have essentially re-built my VUE. Front and rear catalytic converters went within 2-3 weeks of each other (over $2000), timing belt was dried out and cracked so I had to replace it, did my major tune up at 100000.

Replaced bearings, struts, rotors, rear shoes, drums, etc. often.

Have frequent oil leaks from the same defective part on a oil separator.

Now replacing my throttle body, harness, and rear end differential. (costs $2400)

Constantly replacing the windshield spray nozzle on the driver side, because it flies off and blobs out the anti-freeze instead of sprays.

Steering wheel makes a crank like noise when turning, I have constantly had this fixed.

Moon roof rattles and the cloth is coming off. They want $300 to replace it. I figured it doesn't leak and still works, screw it cuz that's ridiculous.

Replaced the pedal throttle, and a tiny part to help my pick up when pressing the gas (can't remember what it's called, but it's a very tiny blue like box (costs about $200). I had a friend who is a mechanic find the issue, because Saturn didn't seem to notice the issue at hand to duplicate the problem, although it was quite obvious I was NOT getting pick up when taking off, considering it's a V6!!!

Rear wiper motor went bad, had to purchase a new arm/unit.

Replaced PCV hoses, serpentine belt tensioner replaced.

Door lock actuator has been replaced on one of the doors. (had gotten extremely loud and clanky because it wasn't locking and unlocking properly)

General Comments:

ESSENTIALLY there is so much more I've replaced and more than once.

As you can see I have NOT had a great experience with my vehicle internally. Which is too bad because it's a sharp car, and when it did run good (when I first got it), I loved it!

Right now, I've paid for 2 vehicles and got 1. I lost the deal. Some great brand.

2003 Saturn VUE 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Don't buy one, save yourself the longterm grief

Faults:

Where do I start?

Most recently, throttle body control, twice in two years.

Replaced both front struts, front wheel rotors, calipers, brakes, all wheel bearings, coolant pump, engine wire harness (which has to be replaced again for $1400.00), and there are various and sundry other major repairs that I have done in the last two years, this is the short list.

I don't mind paying or replacing things as they go bad, but having to replace them twice in a two year period, is a bit much. I'm not made of money. I want to trade it, but my service engine light won't stay off, or my car won't "act" right for me to get rid of it.

Of course all of these repairs and others were done by a Saturn dealer, for all the good it's done me. I've been repairing this auto since I bought it.. don't do it. Buy a Toyota.

General Comments:

All of my issues have been under the hood.

It's an SUV, it's gonna make noises and rattle.

Overall it's been OK, except for the thousands of dollars I have pumped into it recently.

"I've been repairing this auto since I bought it"

Hey, GM!!! If you read that, that's one of the reasons that your next stop after chapter 11 will be chapter 7!!!
