1993 Toyota Camry LE from North America

Summary:

Camry's are Great!!!

Faults:

The distributor went out on me in traffic. Everything ales has been regular maintenance. Brakes, struts, tune ups, etc.

General Comments:

I love this car. I knew before purchasing that they were good cars due to the fact that you see so many of them on the road. It is a powerful 4 cylinder and I can keep up with all the V6's on the road (Camry V6's, Maxima's, GS 400's, Accord V6's, etc).

Gas mileage is great and I am never worried when staring it because I know my Camry will turn over and take me where I need to go!!

1993 Toyota Camry LE 2.2L I4 from North America

Summary:

Not really stylish, but has reliability that can't be beat

Faults:

The coil pack went bad and cost several hundred dollars to replace at a dealer.

Regular maintenance like brakes, and tires.

The rear springs are getting squeaky and occasionally you can hear something thumping in the trunk.

The radio does not work sometimes in the cold. I think it is because someone bent the power antenna.

No major repairs besides the coil pack.

General Comments:

My dad owns the car and at first I really didn't like it. It isn't very stylish and you will almost always see yourself going the other way.

Recently, a got my license and I now drive the Camry to school. I have come to enjoy its precise handling, decent gas mileage, and reliability.

It still runs amazingly well for how much it has been through. It has over 180000 miles on it and drive it hard almost daily. It is a common occurrence for the car to see its 6,250 red-line.

It gets 25-35 miles per gallon, and has never left us stranded.

The Camry is also pretty fast. With the little four cylinder, you can easily top 100mph. It rides well for a mid-size on the highway, and stops superbly.

A few downsides I have noticed include, that it is hard to find a comfortable seating position up front, the back seat is to short for those over 5'9", the body is prone to rust, and body repairs are moderately expensive.

Last I checked Camry's of this generation had distributors not coil packs.

1993 Toyota Camry LE V6 from North America

Summary:

With normal and regual scheduled maintenance, it will run and run well.

Faults:

At 80,000 miles the drivers window motor had to be replaced. The timing belt has been replaced at 68,000 and 115,000 miles.

General Comments:

Overall this car flat out runs great. It is not flashy, nor an eye catcher, but it gets me from one place to another with minimal costs. The insurance costs next to nothing. I have never had to file any kind of a claim and it gets very good mileage for a six cylinder. Usually around 22 - 26 miles per gallon.

Do you all know that the 3.0 litre V6 of the 1992 era has one big problem... the head gasket WILL fail. My car had a replacement gasket at the main agents at 85000 miles. I ran the car for 3000 miles and 8 months, it had a full service history and all had been done at the specified intervals. At 160000 miles the head gasket went yet again! A bill of £800 was predicted, and I only paid £500 for the car in the first place, so off it went to the car graveyard to be broken for parts... think on.

1993 Toyota Camry LE 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

I highly recommend the car to anyone who is concerned with dependability.

Faults:

Leather near drivers door wearing.

Auto antennae quit - replaced with after market part.

General Comments:

I love my Camry. Sadly, I must let it go and get something new, but only because of damage done in parking lots. Its still a beautiful car and I am having a hard time finding something that will live up to the 'creature comforts' that it provided. The car has been dependable and inexpensive to car. Gas mileage is still 32 on highway. The car was, admittedly, a bit expensive upfront - but 10 years of worry free driving was well worth it.
