1995 Toyota Camry LX Sedan 4 cylinder - 2.4L from North America

Summary:

Bombproof reliability

Faults:

Read below, replaced items during preventive maintenance due to normal wear.

General Comments:

I have 5 Toyotas. 2 95 Camrys, 1 with 97k and another with 155k, 2 Corollas, 1 with 195k and another with 155k, and a 97 4Runner with 135k.

I guess you can tell I am a big Toyota fan. All were bought new with the exception of the 2 Camrys. I just bought them this year to resell and make a few dollars.

Well they were both one owner cars with all the maintenance records, and were in such good shape I had to jump on them. Paid 3200 for the one with 90k miles and 2,800 for the other. Both needed motor mounts (up-graded to 97 style front motor mount), this is common, along with rear sway bar bushings. Both needed radiators (these items were all original equipment). Did the usual preventive maintenance like flush all the fluids, timing belts, plugs, wires, filters etc.

That totaled up to about 1k per car. They both ride, drive and handle like new cars. NO RATTLES, idle smooth as silk, 26mpg around town. One will replace one of the Corollas when it hits 200k next year.

These cars will easily go 250-300k WITH proper care and maintenance. Totally bullet proof, again with proper care and maintenance. I wouldn't hesitate to drive either one across country. Why buy a new one when these are just getting broken in, plus NO CAR PAYMENT, and LOW property taxes!

My 1995 Camry has been a wonderful car. No major problems other than usual maintenance...

1995 Toyota Camry LE 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Extremely reliable! Would buy another

Faults:

This car is amazing. We purchased it at 153,000 miles. It had been one owner, well taken care of, all routine maintenance done (including timing belt) which is probably why this car is still running great. It now has 225,000 miles and we haven't done any major work to it. Only oil changes. The rear struts are shot and the front axel and CV boot are bad, but what do we expect for the miles?

General Comments:

Very reliable! Cheap to maintain.

1995 Toyota Camry LE 4 cylinder 2.2L from North America

Summary:

Cuckoo for Camry!

Faults:

Three of my motor mounts were bad when I bought the vehicle. Seems to be a common problem with this model/year. $250.

Within a week my drivers side door handle broke off in my hand and the passenger side is about to break as well. $120.

My valve cover gasket is leaking a bit of oil and the worse part of it only is the smell at this point.

Paint on my bumper is faded due to sun.

The radio knob was missing when I bought the car, bought one for $7 and it fell off again and I lost it.

General Comments:

Some unusual things to go wrong with a Toyota, but the car has always started and it rides very well. You can cruise at 80mph and not even know it.

The transmission shifts flawlessly and accelerates well.

The A/C is very good and blows ice cold.

It averages about 400 miles per tank and gets over 25 miles/gallon city and 30 miles/gallon highway.

I'll drive it until it blows up.

1995 Toyota Camry LE 2.2 Gas from North America

Summary:

It's like Old Faithful on wheels

Faults:

I've owned 35 cars in the last 15 years and this is the first one which has not given me a problem... not one!

I just change the oil, put in gas and drive the thing. No drama! What a concept!

General Comments:

What can I say about Camry that hasn't been said a million times? This car is proof that humans can make a car last longer than 5 years without it falling apart.

I've driven the car through 24 states and added on 30,000 miles and I couldn't have been more happy with my Camry.

Mileage could be better as I average 28 highway MPG. Would like to see 30+.

The car has 127,000 miles and the interior looks like it has 50,000. No wear on the seats or cracks in the dash.

My 95 Camry is rarer than most. It's a bright red Coupe. Less than 2% of all Camrys in 1995 were coupes. I have 18 chrome wheels which really sets it off. It gets more looks than a Camry should.

If I could change anything, I would have looked for a V6, specifically the SE Coupe. The 2.2 is OK, but it's slower than molasses in January when compared to some of the cars I have owned.

I agree with this person. The '95 Camry is wonderful. It drives like new, and I have 249,000km on it. I get 34 mpg, but I cruise on the hwy at about 105 Km/ph so I never speed. I can't bring myself to sell this thing, and get into payments again! I have it oil sprayed every 2 years and there is only a couple rust spots along the top of the windshield.
