2001 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS review from North America
"Too many issues with the truck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I own a 2002 Trailblazer, LS with ~75,000 miles.
Like most people here, I started hearing the truck revving at start up. I live in CT so we have some pretty cold winters, I thought that was the reason so I would make sure the car was warmed up before pulling off and it would go away.
About a month ago the car started sounding like an 18 wheeler and the check engine light came on. My kids dubbed it the Stop 'N Shop Truck. It's horrible, the acceleration sucks and it's very annoying, people are behind me and the truck just won't go until it jumps into gear.
I had it tested and the computer showed the fan was running at a high speed and cylinder # 2 was misfiring. I had the cylinder issue repaired. Now I'm trying to find a fan clutch that I can afford to have a mechanic put if on for me. I won't take my car to a dealer, took it there and they told me I had a cracked head gasket that would cost me about $3500 to fix. Had someone else look at it and nothing was wrong with my head gasket. They are thieves.
I've been reading these posts all day, and other sites also, and with these many people complaining about the fan clutch, I would think GM would have done something already. I emailed them today and ask for assistance in paying for the replacement. I also intend on contacting the Dept. of Consumer Protection in CT to see what can be done. I've always had Nissan's, and decided to get the SUV, and this is what I get.
I hadn't spent a dime on surprise issues on any of my Nissan's when I owned them, traded one in at 99,000 miles with no problems. Can't wait to get rid of this truck. It's just too frustrating.
