2001 Dodge Intrepid ES review from North America
"Reliable, fast, and attractive"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Cooling system (air conditioning) has gone out twice.
Radiator has been replaced twice.
General comments?
For a car made by Chrysler, which doesn't have the best reputation, this car has held up very well.
We have had it for almost 7 years, and things didn't start going wrong until it was in an accident in 2005. The front got hit at about 10 mph and it affected the radiator, so the cooling system got messed up, the air conditioning went out, and it had to be fixed.
Other than that, it only has had typical car things go wrong (like getting new shocks, oil changes, tire changes). I believe it didn't really necessitate a tune-up until it was over 100,000.
The 3.5 engine is certainly not a gas sipper but not totally a gas guzzler either (gets about 300 miles on a full tank).
This car is HUGE and often hard to back up in tight spots, but it is a very reliable car. The engine noise (or growl when accelerating) on this model is also great.
