1993 Nissan Maxima SE review from North America
"Enjoy the ride! Best sports sedan of old"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Factory transmission failure at around 50,000 miles. It was replaced under the factory warranty. Other than that, the only thing wrong was the BOSE reciever could not keep radio or XM reception at about 120,000 miles, but this was fixed by a local electronic shop. Basically this car has been abused for 100,000 miles without problems.
General comments?
This car has it all, Nissan's designation of '4 door sports car' suits it well. This particular car has every option except the manual transmission. The interior is roomy and comfortable for me, and I'm about 6'1". The drive train is literally flawless. The 3.0l and the electronically controlled auto have enough smoothness to escort the pope, but at the same time enough gruff to beat a mustang to sixty (yes, its true, my uncle has a 99 GT 4.6 5spd and I am consistently ahead of him). Not to mention this cars handling. I have repeatedly had this car above 100mph on the curvies without problems. I would have to say it is one of the best handling cars at speed that I have ever had the pleasure of driving.
The maxima is like a pure bred sports car, with the benefit and spaciousness of a 4 door sedan. I urge you to consider it, because you will enjoy the ride!
