1995 Nissan Pathfinder SE review from North America
"Substandard frame assembly kills a fine vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Cosmetic rust appeared on running boards and rear bumper at about 80,000 miles. Very poor design job on rear bumper which catches moisture inside the assembly.
Frame almost completely rusted through in the last 6 months. This makes the vehicle an accident waiting to happen due to frame collapse. Otherwise the vehicle is in excellent condition but is headed to the junkyard. Have heard a number of other similar horror stories concerning 94 - 98 Pathfinders and pick-ups that use the same frame. A mechanic asked my neighbor if he was driving his '95 in the ocean because his frame was also about to collapse.
General comments?
Stay away, very far away from these model years. They are about 10 years old now and beginning to die of frame cancer. Affected owners and former owners should probably band together in a class action suit against Nissan, especially if this led to any accidents.
