2005 Chevrolet Equinox LS from North America

Summary:

This car should be burned!

Faults:

Good grief, I don't think there is enough room for all of the problems I have had with this car!

Starter, battery, transmission, front end, brakes, bad tires, knobs and buttons worn out...

Should have 80,000 warranty already worn out at 35000 miles, and bonus I am over 10,000 upside down in this vehicle, with no hope of escape other than bankruptcy.

General Comments:

I will NEVER buy another Chevy as long as I live, or a GM car, because of the customer service and zero quality vehicle. Thank GOD the dealership talked me into the extended warranty. I SUED CHEVY AND WON!!! Even if you have had it more than one year (typical lemon law) they call it a UCC violation!! SUE SUE SUE...

I heard someone above comment about their car being recalled; I have yet to receive a recall! I truly believe GM/Chevy is aware of ALL of our issues! I am furious!

I could not agree with you more. I have a 2006 Equinox and I wish I could just light a match to this car. GM is absolutely no help.

I made the mistake of buying this car in the first place, after my 2002 Olds Intrigue went down the crapper, the Chevy dealer was the only place that would take the car. I will never own a GM vehicle as long as I live.

I purchased a 2008 Dodge Durango, which, no lie, gets better gas mileage with a Hemi V8, than the puny six cylinder the Equinox has. The Durango is built FAR better, is more comfortable, and I got a Lifetime warranty. I have never had a Dodge vehicle before, but I feel this is a better choice.

We also just purchased a Ford Fusion for my wife. The difference in quality between Ford and Chevy is phenomenal. It's clear why GM is having financial difficulty. I'm now trying to sell the Equinox for well below listed value, but I feel bad dumping this piece of crap off to someone else...

Faults:

Bought this 2005 brand new the first year they came out.

Sunroof wouldn't close after 1 year got it fixed and then it started to leak. My floor board was soaking wet after it rained. I took it back and they didn't fix it correctly the first time. Nice.

Weather stripping on the windshield down both sides just came off. They started flapping in the wind at different times while driving. Took it in and they are not covered under warranty and cost $332 EACH! For 2 small rubber strips. Seems to be a default to me. I have never owned a car where the weather strips just come off.

The interior paint is already chipping. And I mean everywhere. The silver along all the door handles is peeling, the black paint off the radio and a/c controls.

Anywhere there is paint it is chipping.

The visor mirror cover broke many times. I have had it fixed twice and just gave up after that. I would open it and it would just pop off.

I don't seem to notice this rattle that almost everyone has talked about. I am going to listen now for that. Other than that I love my car. Just seems it was cheaply put together which is actually scary when you think about it.

You did not pay for the DECORATIVE plastic repair did you? Ours had one peeling off after we took it through a car wash they offered to pay for it. We took it to a window place and they said they had to remove the windshield, no way, went down the street, and they came out for free and put it back in there with an adhesive. And then explained that it had no actual purpose!
