1995 Chevrolet S-10 Base from North America - Comments

"Gas Saver"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The S-10 needed a new transmission fluid pump and torque converter at 50,000 miles. The multifunction switch went out at 70,000. Otherwise it has just needed basic upkeep.

General comments?

This truck is slow as dirt, but it is built rock solid and can haul just about anything you need it to. The interior build quality leaves a lot to be desired. Gets 25+ mpg for me.

I too have a 1995 S-10 base model. It has a 5 speed 2.2 4 cylinder engine. I think it's a perfect small truck for basic transportation and light hauling. I can't complain! I also get around 26 mph.

I own a 95 s-10 base pick up with a 2.2 manual trans that I use for commuting 70 mile each way. I also run at speeds of 85-90 mph constantly my truck was slow until I took of the clutch fan off and put an electric fan in its place it can cost you arount 190.00 to replace a genuine gm clutch fan and around 80.00 install a electric fan and thermostat and it only takes about an hour to install its easy it raised my fuel miles and power to climb hills and to pass I love this truck I just bough a 01 dakoda with a v-6 its faster, but I like the s-10 much better if anyone may need help on installing the electric fan email me giovanigta @yahoo.com I will explain how to do it.
