2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LT 4.2L Vortec Inline 6 from North America

Summary:

I am disappointed so much has gone wrong in only 1000 miles.

Faults:

Bulbs quit working in taillight assemblies. Both taillight assemblies had to be replaced.

Fuel tank had cracks and was replaced.

The reaction gear in the transmission went bad at 23400 miles and the transmission had to be replaced.

At 24000 miles the engine became very loud. It sounded like a large leaf blower. The fan clutch was bad and had to be replaced.

All repairs were covered under warranty.

General Comments:

This vehicle runs very quiet and drives very smoothly for a Sport Utility Vehicle. It is one of the smoothest riding vehicles I can remember riding in or driving.

Handling and braking is great.

The sound quality of the stereo is poor.

The fold-up rear seats are very easy to operate.

The Chevrolet service department has been very pleasent to work with in getting the repairs done.

2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LTZ 4x4 from North America

Summary:

An expensive headache (sometimes)

Faults:

The air conditioning keeps going out. It has been in the shop 4 times now, and apparently it is still not fixed. The A/C will go out for a few hours, and then will come back on. This is the only trouble I have had, but now I am going to have to buy an extended warranty. I am very frustrated with this problem and I am curious if GM is looking into it, because there are other people with the same problem.

General Comments:

This vehicle is very comfortable and gets good gas mileage for an SUV. I'm not sure if I would recommend this vehicle to anyone because of the air conditioning problems.

2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS V6 from North America

Summary:

Nice Affordable Smoothe Riding SUV

Faults:

My rear defrost cable became unhooked-took it in and they soldered it back for free under warranty work.

My radio gets really hot while playing a CD.

General Comments:

I would say that I will NEVER own another Ford. I had a 1998 Eddie Bauer Explorer loaded to the top. No matter how luxurious they made the inside, it did not mask the fact that it rode like a rough truck.

The seats are roomy and are not made for the skinny minney drivers.

The ride in my trailblazer is like that of a car, not a truck.

The suspension is great on it.

The cornering is amazing-and I have tested its limits. If these were really top heavy, it would have been flipped by now.

I had a V8 in my Explorer, and was scared going to a V6, but it has ample power.

I am getting 14 miles to the gallon, so you can tell I use the power when needed.

I was afraid of getting another vehicle with all the bells and whistles as my Explorer nickel and dimed me to death with them. So I opted for the LS. It has power windows and door locks with a CD player and that's it.

I would definetely buy another one. Maybe next time if things are still going well with it, I will opt for the LTZ package.

2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LT from North America

Summary:

If if wouldn't hurt my credit, I'd return the vehicle and walk away!

Faults:

Fuel injectors are burning out at 43,000 miles. We had one fixed and the same day another went bad. The replacement cost for each injector was $350. Later the same week, the other 4 injectors had to be replaced. After complaining to the service department about this problem, we were told by the head service mechanic that fuel injectors are being replaced at a rate of 4 to 5 per week, and that he doesn't know why Chevrolet hasn't recalled the vehicle for this problem. This is a very expensive mechanical problem for customers to correct.

General Comments:

I've driven many Chevrolets since I started driving nearly 30 years ago. I've received more recall notices on this vehicle than I have all other vehicles combined. This makes me wonder if Chevrolet really did it's homework before putting this new motor on the road.
