2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LT 4.2 I-6 from North America

Summary:

I am very satisfied with this vehicle so far

Faults:

Interior, vanity, and under hood lights inoperative. Body computer replacement fixed problem.

A/C stopped working, but came back the next day and has since been working.

Auto transmission second gear shift chatters twice when warm.

Transmission seems to shift at too high an RPM for normal driving.

Brake pedal is spongy.

Engine fan makes noise sometimes when first starting engine.

Rear seat belts are difficult to latch.

Cd's and tapes get very hot from playing.

One headlight bulb and one break lamp have burned out.

One tire is making a noise while driving.

The fuel economy is low for a six cylinder engine.

The driver's power window makes a loud squeaking noise when operating.

General Comments:

This vehicle is easy to drive.

The ride is very smooth, quiet and comfortable.

The handling is fair.

The standard sound system is good.

The engine has ample power when needed.

The On-Star system is very convenient.

The Chevy dealer has been great to work with.

I have taken this vehicle on one 2,600 mile trip and enjoyed it very much. It feels safe and stable on the road. I wish it got better fuel mileage. It gets 19 mpg on long trips and 17 mpg on my daily commute. All my passengers have commented about how comfortable the Trailblazer is to ride in.

2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer from North America

Summary:

Serious design flaws--a lemon for sure

Faults:

Air Conditioner blows warm air intermittently. Has been in for service eight times in first year and the problem still has not been corrected.

Tail lights and head lights repeatedly go out. I had to replace 8 bulbs before the dealer corrected the problem by replacing lamp assembly.

Radio would not hold a station. The radio had to be completely replaced.

The console was cracking and had to be replaced.

The bumper warped and had to be replaced.

General Comments:

General Motors obviously has several design flaws with the Trailblazer. There have been several recalls on the 2002 Trailblazer. I would strongly caution against buying this vehicle.

Wait until you're on your third power steering pump and I've only had my '02 Trailblazer EXT for 1 year. Oh yeah, watch out when the thing switches into 4WD without turning the 4WD switch.

The brake lights went out again, the dealer replaced the whole tail light assemblies and board. It was a problem and there is a service bulletin out for it. It shouldn't happen again.

Nothing else has gone wrong though, very reliable vehicle, it started in -44 degree weather (of course the power steering pump buzzed like crazy, but it is fine now that it is warm.)

I have one of the bad ones too. Mine has been in the shop 7 times in 1 1/2 years. Tail lights twice, steering shaft, molding, air conditioning, door leaking, now a they are ordering a stabilizer for the front end. My sister bought an 04 trailblazer. Good luck to her. I learned my lesson from this NEVER buy a car the first year it is made.

I also have an 02 LT... Mine has been to the shop 6 times in 2004. Air conditioning sensor, outside temperature control sensor, fog lights, brake lights, radio lights, transmission module control, 4wd reprogram module, emergency brake cable, rusted hatch bolts and numerous others. Overall... It runs good.. When it's not in the shop. I think the biggest problem with this truck is the electrical issues. Too many computers and programs...

I bought my 2002 Trailblazer LTZ about 6 months ago. The previous owner took great care of this vehicle. I keep reading all the the terrible reviews on this and I am just amazed. I Love my trailblazer, I have not had any of the problems others are talking about. Although I have had to replace the Fan clutch. Other than that, I love it and I would definitely buy another one.

I love my 2002 trailblazer, 155,000 miles and still running strong.
