2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LT 4.2L from North America

Summary:

Nice ride, but iffy quality

Faults:

My experience is similar to others posted to this site. Vehicle is in the shop awaiting the Fan Clutch replacement. Yippee a nice bill for $600 for an item that GM admits is defective. A recall is in order as is the refund to all of those that have overpaid for this repair!

General Comments:

Considering that the 2002s TB have many known issues I have had fairly good luck with mine to date. Now that I have jinxed myself by making such a comment I suspect that ole Murphy will be visiting me. I do believe GM has responsibility to better cover parts that they admit are defective and have proven to show an abnormal failure rate.

2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LXT from North America

Summary:

Not dependable

Faults:

I just got my repair estimate from the Chevrolet Dealer for the repair of my Fan Clutch on my 2002 “ Chevy” Trail Blazer. They are charging me $690.00 - what a rip off!

These cars should have definitely been recalled. I don’t think I will ever buy another Chevy car. If they know something is wrong with this model, they should do the right thing, and recall it and give us our money back!

2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LT 4.2 from North America

Summary:

Okay, but wouldn't buy another one

Faults:

Original Fan Clutch at 36000 miles.

Stabilizer bushings at 35000 miles.

General Comments:

My Trailblazer has been a good car so far, but getting work done for their poor workmanship at my cost is not right.

2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer chevrolet V6 vortex from North America

Summary:

Trouble from the get go

Faults:

Coil Pack on 1st cylinder went bad has to have that fixed then a few weeks later the fan clutch is now sticking and needs replacing. Sounds like a tornado when you take off and it is embarassing to drive a vehicle that looks this good and sounds so bad.

Reported to GM, but the said they had no recalls and did not forsee any. But if they did they would contact me. Dealer estimates is would cost $600.00 to 700.00 to fix. Ridiculous.

2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS 4.2 Inline Six from North America

Summary:

Big, powerful and broken

Faults:

Dash board electronics have gone out several times.

Tail light burned out twice in 3 years.

At approximately 50,000 miles, engine broke down while driving on freeway.

Dealer estimates 20 hours of labor costs just to find out what the problem is.

This comes to about $2,200. This does not include the repair of the problem.

GM claims that the engine is very difficult to access.

Is this not GM's fault?

GM customer service has not been helpful in addressing this issue.

General Comments:

I love the Trailblazer for it's comfort, size and power.

However, this SUV was obviously a mistake to purchase, and has left us without a vehicle.

You need to check the recall for your Vin #. Our engine did the same thing at 80,000 miles, we had to get a used engine with 8000 miles from the salvage yard. Only to find out after the fact that Chevy had put out a recall on the Engine. We were reimbursed $1,500. Obviously not the full cost of repair. If only we would have checked first on the recalls, Chevy would have bought a new engine for us, and we wouldn't be having a problem with the fan clutch right now. It sounds like a helicopter, or the engine is at a high RPM. Hey, but it's only a $700 dollar fan clutch. I will never buy a Chevy as long as I live, nor will I let my family or friends.

2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS 4.2L V6 from North America

Nice if you a bumper to bumper 100K warranty

Faults:

At 36000 miles just after the warranty expired something in the steering column was making a clicking at startup 400.00 to have it replaced. At 39000 miles the rear passenger window will not go up, 450.00 to have the limiter replaced. At 42000 miles the driver side rear window will not go down another 450.00 bucks to have that limiter replaced also. CD player is will not play.
