1991 Citroen AX GT review from UK and Ireland

When I had my GT, I needed new tyres which could have cost me loads, but I found out that you can fit 165/60 r14s on it. Um... also my radiator leaked until a bottle of Radweld found it's way in there.

The only major thing wrong was that some Gibbon (the guy who owned the car before me) had soldered up the carb jets to richen up the mixture. This made it drive crap and have poor economy. A trip to the local rolling road tuners soon fixed that.

I absolutely loved my GT. I got rid of it because the bodywork was really untidy (which is why it was cheap). When I bought it, I thought I could could tidy it up. Seems I'm not as good with the spray paint as I had first imagined!

I got rid of the GT and replaced it with a Vauxhall Cavalier GSi 2000 16v 2wd. The Cav is very quick, but I'm selling it to get another AX GT. The things I love about the AX were the fact that it was very fast, cheap to buy spares for, and very easy to work on.

If you're clever with the dynamat sound deadening, you can get rid of fair few rattles, plus it makes your bass response better if you've got the boot filled with subs like me!
