2000 Citroen Saxo VTR BadBoy 1:6 DOHC 16 V from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Quick, deadly, french, steel, alloy, good at reversing

Faults:

My Saxo was a bad ass car, but I really found the dealer well unhelpfull, they always told me to come back another day with the problems I was having.

General Comments:

My motor looked sweet and was really admired by the girls on my estate, this I think is the problem, it's a girls car, no matter what body kits, etc I put on it, it always looked feminie. shame because my mums looks rude, with her single wiper conversion. It is well quick and handles great. It stops well and reverses even better.

2000 Citroen Saxo VTR 1.6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

My little blue chariot!

Faults:

I have replaced all four tyre's.

I have replaced rear brake pads after 27000 miles.

General Comments:

I love my VTR. Although it would be nice to have a faster car, all in all this is a good all-rounder.

I have had no serious faults with it and have only replaced wear and tear items such as tyre's, oil filters etc.

The car is due its first MOT very soon and my pre-MOT inspection has revealed the car to be near perfect and will breeze through its MOT.

OK, the build quality of nearly all Citroen's could be better, but from some of the comments listed on this page, it would appear the majority of people who post messages are the unfortunate minority who do encounter problems with their new cars.

I couldn't be any happier with my VTR and although I am now getting broody for a new car, I know deep down this has been my best car I have ever owned and I have owned some half decent cars too. I think I will stick to my VTR!

Hi!

Just wanted to say keep your Saxo VTR! I had a 90hp VTR and then a 98hp one and decided to get something bigger - BIG mistake. I bought a Xsara VTR which was no where near as good. My Dad owns a Xsara VTS and its still no where near as much fun as a Saxo VTR.

Many cars are better built, but I've never driven a car that is as much fun as a Saxo and that gives you such a feel good factor. So much so I sold my Xsara after 10 months and a bought a lovely new silver one. Enough said.

2000 Citroen Saxo VT 1.1 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Average car. Get a 1.2 Astra instead

Faults:

The engine, when ticking over after been started, jumps up and down in the revs.

When driving along and changing from 4th gear to 5th gear, it has cut out or drops down on the rev so much that it nearly cuts out. It uses more fuel when this happens.

It has no power, and the throttle seems to be very slow to react to acceleration comparing to what it used to be.

Also got a knocking noise from a bushing.

General Comments:

The car is good on fuel.

Very quick for a 1.1.

E-mail me if you have similar problems.

2000 Citroen Saxo VTS 1.6 16v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Great car to have fun in!

Faults:

Vehicle kept cutting out. Took car to dealer, who said it was the crank shaft position sensor. Replaced it, and guess what, the fault was still there.

Went back next day, after they fiddled around with the car and I got it back the fan would not stop spinning, I had to take the fuse out to stop it!

The next day, I broke down and had to be towed. This time to another garage who informed me it I needed a new petrol pump! This was replaced, and no further problems. I will never go to the specific dealer who looked at the car the first time - absolute cowboys who did not know what they were looking for.

General Comments:

Very nippy car. Have had various modifications done, than just makes the car better. Have only had the car 1 year and so far have had 3 people giving me their number for when I sell it!
