2000 Daewoo Matiz SE 0.796 from Venezuela

Summary:

An economical comfy car

Faults:

Battery went dead at 28000kms.

Interior light never worked until recently.

Brake pads worn at 25000kms. Dealer replaced.

Dealer were very un-polite in every service my car had and I usually notice very bad quality service. Thank god not much has gone wrong with my matiz :)!!

General Comments:

OK I have to admit that at first I didn't like the matiz cause I use to own an suv, but my parents had to sell it because they needed some quick cash. But after a while a decided I ought to make the best of my car and it started to grow on me. I started to appreciate how good this car is.

Now I can say that the matiz is super economical on gas; it seems you can go on forever and the gauge will barely move.

The interior is very big for such a small car. I have managed to easily fit 5 adult sized people in it and in an emergency you can get a couple more.

On long trips its OK, but can get kinda bumpy on bad roads.

Its handling is very unstable due to its tall and narrow shape.

All in all the matiz is very comfy and easy to drive, but in my opinion it really takes a long time to accelerate even though it eventually reaches 100mph. That's why I decided to see how fast I could make my matiz so I did a couple of tune ups including exhaust, headers, k&n filter, nitto tires, lowered suspension, Bosch spark plugs, spark cables, and a couple more that escape me at the moment.

After all that I have managed yo get it up to 120mph and bettered its 0-60 time from 17 seconds down to 11 seconds!!! no joke!

And the handling now is awesome, I never imagined I could get that car to handle so well.

I love the matiz mainly for its reliability, comfort and its economic value, but I wouldn't by another daewoo due to the dealer service which is awful.

2000 Daewoo Matiz SE 0.7 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Fun, cheap, fresh and modern

Faults:

Rear seat retainer catch has broken.

Seats have not worn very well.

General Comments:

It handles quite well and is surprisingly nippy.

Its good to drive in town with its very small turning circle and diminutive size.

Very economical except when pushed very hard.

Will happily cruise on the motorway and feels safe enough even at 90mph!

Body panels are very thin and slightly tinny, but the paintwork is excellent (Poly Silver).

Gets strange looks from some people, but most people warm to it when they see how well it drives.

I love my little car, she's a beauty.

90 mph? I take it you haven't looked at the Euro NCAP test results for the Daewoo Matiz at just 40 mph then!

Nice nippy little car, but above 65 mph and it begins to feel very unstable!

Great fuel economy, especially at around 60 mph.

Gear box is far from great, but have seen worse on an earlier year 2000 SE+ (mine's an EZ+ 02 reg).

Air conditioning brilliant, and doesn't seem to affect fuel economy too badly.

Overall I'm very pleased with my car, perfect for parking and maneouvring.

2000 Daewoo Matiz SE Plus 0.8 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Surprisingly roomy, comfortable, economical and easy to drive

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car so far.

General Comments:

I bought this car as I was attracted by its styling and small exterior size with roomy and stylish interior.

The four passenger doors as standard are very useful.

The fuel economy is very good, but does suffer if the car is driven hard.

The three-cylinder engine is surprising smooth and quiet.

The Matiz is the best car I have owned and very difficult to fault.
