1999 Dodge Intrepid ES from North America

Summary:

Poor Quality for the money

Faults:

Speed Sensor went out.

Problems with motors/tracks of all 4 windows.

New rack and pinion.

Shifter doesn't move easily.

Numerous problems with braking system.

Air conditioner display screen fades in and out.

Air conditioner comes on by itself and will not respond.

Paint around front windshield peeling off.

Dodge emblem fell off front of car.

Headlights have yellowed.

Have had to change battery twice.

General Comments:

This car has serious issues with the braking system, I have had it in the shop about every 3-4 months for some kind of brake problem.

The windows stick or will not roll down, both driver and passenger windows come off the track and fall down inside the door.

I was on my way to a funeral when the speed sensor went out about an hour from home and I had to wait on the side of road for a tow truck. Car would not come out of 2nd gear.

Currently experiencing electrical problems. Car won't start, then it does. Display panels fade in and out. Air conditioner comes on unexpectedly and fan gets stuck in one position.

The overhead directional/temp display panel isn't working properly.

1999 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 Liter from North America

Summary:

Crap

Faults:

I have a crack in my dash board.

My driver's side window has fallen off the track.

I had to have the transmission rebuilt at 75,000 miles.

The windshield wipers work poorly despite new blades.

The check engine light comes on frequently.

The car pulls to the right despite realignment.

It frequently takes several tries to start the car.. although my mechanic cannot find anything wrong with it.

The drivers side interior light will not come on, despite a new bulb and intact fuses.

It is currently in the shop because the alternator needs to be replaced.

General Comments:

This car is a gigantic piece of garbage, given to me by parents because they no longer wanted to deal with the piece of junk.

I will never buy another Dodge ever in my whole life and have told every person I have ever had a conversation with as much. I wish no one would ever buy another Dodge.

As a college student I was thrilled to recieve a car, but now long for my teal, 1992 Plymouth Sundance... at least it ran all the time.

LOL - You wound up with another dodge, and now you're happy.

Plymouth = Dodge. Dodge = Plymouth.

1999 Dodge Intrepid from North America

Summary:

All considered, it hasn't been such a bad deal

Faults:

The driver side window fell out of the track. The horns didn't work. The fan for the heater/air stopped working. It leaks almost a half quart of oil a month. It sometimes will not start and the mechanics can't be sure what the problem is. They want to replace the fuel pump.

It's been towed to the garage so many times my insurance will no longer cover road side assistance.

I have had sensors replaced, and while I know there have been other things I can't remember them all. But I must admit, when it runs, it runs well. Nice ride and plenty of room.

General Comments:

I do think it looks good and people still can't believe it's a 7 year old car. It still looks new. The air, radio, and actually everything on it are working today.

1999 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 from North America

Summary:

This car is death on wheels

Faults:

The engine blew 2 months after I had it, already $4,500 in the hole.

The starter went out a month after that, followed by the alternator.

Brakes go out more than expected.

Oil leaking into the pistons, causing smoke to come out of the exhaust after a stop sign or stop light.

The mechanic said to have my oil changed every 500 miles, due to sludge build up.

The oil light comes on all the time. I've had the oil pressure sensor replaced twice.

The crank sensor went out, which would cause the car to randomly die just driving down the road.

Air conditioner went out, because of a hole in the condenser.

General Comments:

I would not wish this car upon anyone's life.

I have now paid more on getting it fixed, than I did when I bought it.

I should learned my lesson when I had a Neon, and the head gaskets were going out.
