2002 Dodge Neon SXT 2.0 from North America

Summary:

Budget Autobahn burner

Faults:

The brake rotors wore out at 42,000 miles.

General Comments:

My old Volkswagen Jetta was finally shot after 325,000 miles, so I was looking for a reliable replacement to take overseas on a military mandated move to Europe.

I bought this car because Daimler-Chrysler honors the warranty in Germany, where none of the other US manufactures do. I also got a great deal and a free 100,000 mile warranty.

This car has been absolutely trouble free for the last two years. The handling and 124 mile per hour top speed were more than adequate on the Autobahns. I did burn through two sets of tires, and the brake rotors are now worn out, but that is to be expected when you average 100 mph on your daily commute to work.

While this car is NOT a Volkswagen, it does only cost half as much, so if it lasts half as long I'll be very happy.

2002 Dodge Neon SE 2.0 from North America

Summary:

A cheap, mediocre transportation pod!

Faults:

Since I have had this awful car the following things have gone wrong with it, It had a transmission overhaul at 17500 miles under dealership warranty. It then needed new engine and transmission mounts at 18500 miles, now currently I have just replaced the factory tires with 23000 miles on them at a cost of three hundred dollars, and I am sure there will be more problems to come.

General Comments:

This car leaves a lot to be desired in all aspects.

The seats are uncomfortable.

The engine noise is quite noticeable at all speeds.

The car is also very poorly built, and shows very poor commitment to quality.

I believe he said 18,500 miles not 185,000.. (just clearing that up)

2002 Dodge Neon SXT 2.0 from North America

Summary:

I love my car!

Faults:

I have not had any problems with my car.

General Comments:

My Dodge Neon SXT is the best car I have ever owned. It is quick, reliable, and stylish.

There are many great after-market performance items. This car shows well at auto shows for performance.

The interior is comfortable. The stereo system is surprisingly loud for a factory system. The gages are also stylish.

I own a Dodge Neon SXT 2003.

It is a great car. I have had no problems with my car at all.

I have however replaced the air filter with a K&N filter, and have gotten rid of the stock muffler, and replaced it with a Magnaflow muffler dual. I now get better gas mileage; I get 300 miles to the gallon on my car, and I got more out of my car when I removed the stock air filter. I got more horse power, and my engine runs cooler.

This is my second Dodge Neon that I have owned, and I haven't had trouble with that. Also it is a great, well built car, and Dodge makes some great products. I won't however drive anything else but Dodge, and for those who have had trouble with their 2002 Dodge Neon SXT, you might want to check and see if there was a recall on your car, because that might be some of your trouble, or you're just treating your car like crap; one or the other!!

2002 Dodge Neon ES 2.0 from North America

Summary:

My beautiful red Neon

Faults:

Nothing as of yet.

I pray nothing will happen.

It needs an alignment.

General Comments:

This car drives really smooth considering my other rough car.

Everything works on it. If you take care of a car, it'll take care of you.

My Celica was not taken care of and I bought it thinking it was (well, I was told). I spent almost $1000 in repairs on that car in less than a year. So watch out!

Toyotas are good when they are taken care of. I plan on taking good care of my Neon.

Tune-ups, oil changes, checking the motor, brakes, rotors, bearings, etc. Washing it regularly and keeping 93 octane gas in it.

Make sure your cars are taken care of before buying a used car... that's important.
