1990 Eagle Talon AWD TSI from North America

Summary:

This car is a winner!!!

Faults:

Not much! Brakes, tires, fan relay... In 15 years, it's been a dream!

General Comments:

If you can find one, buy it! This is one of the most reliable and fun cars that I have ever owned. I took this car off the raod because I thought the turbo was blown, but it was just a stuck waste/purge valve! A little WD-40 and I am back with a vengeance! I have had 3 new cars and 5 "nearly" new cars since this Talon and they've all been nothing, but trouble. This car is made to last.

1990 Eagle Talon 2.0 from North America

Summary:

I Love It

Faults:

When I purchased the car, it had it's problems. Needed an axle, belts, tires... typical wear for a car of its age that hadn't been treated well. Adjusting the seats forward and back is a workout and there were no shocks for the back hatch.

General Comments:

She's a really good car. I feel like it fits me. It doesn't do wonderful on curves, but she's quick. With time and effort she'll be the best car around.

1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD 2.0 4g63t from North America

Summary:

4 cylinders, 3 diamonds, 2 cams, 1 turbo, countless records!!!

Faults:

Zero, zilch, zip, nada...

General Comments:

A car for enthusiast, Many say it's unreliable, but I am here to sway opinions.

Being a DSM (diamond star motors) enthusiast for quite some time, and this being my 2nd DSM, and my brother having 5, I know my way around these cars well. If you have a stupid off the wall comment like your Civic SI beats these all day, please keep to yourself. Thanks.

The car is great, 187xxx on the clock, and the paint shows no wear!!! DSMs 4g63t engines have been known to take the stock 195 hp to 1200hp (John Shepherd, Brent Rau...) and street cars have done 500 WHP numerous times!!! An ultra solid power plant consisting of an iron block, alum head. Can handle 400 WHP ALL stock any day if in good condition.

AWD grips like glue, have launched in 4 inches of rain at 6000+RPM with no spin...

Has some mods, new 14b turbo, new stock log manifold, MBC@15psi, K&N filter, Apexi N1 t-back. Getting quite a bit more, GT32 turbo, support mods...

These cars have been put down into the 11s in the 1/4 with simple, cheap mods... So if you're one of the 5.0 Mustang boys who wants to reply to this to get heard, think twice...

Tranny does grind, most DSMs do, but what do you expect out of a 16 year old high hp turbo car that has been beat since new?!?!?!

To sum things up, the common DSM stereotypes typically are not true, and I drive mine every day, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

John Shepherd holds the 1/4 mile record, 7s on a stock bodied car even!!!

I agree completely. I hate hearing all the horrible stereotypes about these cars. I own a 1990 Eclipse GSX and used to own a base 94 eclipse with the 1.8. I loved that car even with only 92hp and manual steering, yes I said MANUAL STEERING! So when I found my car I couldn't pass it up for $2400. All I am writing this to say is that about 2 years later, some major maintenance repairs, some minor, and I have NEVER had a no start condition and every penny of maintenance is worth it!

1990 Eagle Talon from North America

Summary:

I think this car was made for me

Faults:

When I received my vehicle it hadnt had a tune up in about 2 years, oil was terrible, power stering is a little messed up, and the of course the smart guy how previously owned this vehicle never took it out on the free way, so the car had a lot of carbonation in the engine, but I have a need for speed so believe me there is no carbonation in that engine now. the only other problem is getting in the back seat it's a pain, I'm just real glad its my car so ill never sit back there.

General Comments:

Well I just bought this vehicle and wow for an older vehicle it still runs great, all most like new, except for the problems listed above.
