2000 Ford Explorer XLT V6 from North America

Summary:

The Ford Explore is a overall good car and I would recommend it to any one

Faults:

My Explore has been great to me from when I bought it till now. The only thing that has been wrong is the Fuel Pump, which cost me $300 American dollars to fix. And the Air Bag light keeps flashing on the display panel. Nothing is wrong with the Air Bag it is just a problem with the electricial system. Overall this car has been very good to me and I would bye another Ford.

General Comments:

The Explore has a lot of room for 5 and there is a lot of cargo room.

It takes a good push at the gas Petal to get the car from 0 to 60. It also takes a lot of gas.

2000 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4.0L V6 SOHC from North America

Summary:

Durable truck inside and out

Faults:

Radio back light was working on and off, now is completely off. Does time really matter?

Oil pinion leaked - replaced for minor cost.

Battery died, but it was the factory battery and needed replacement anyways.

Other minor problems due simply to wear and tear, minor costs to fix. i.e. wiper blades, brakes, door seal, gas cap, leather on steering wheel.

General Comments:

Ford makes a great truck here, Explorer is a wonderful bargain.

I am very happy with it, quick pick up and acceleration.

Excellent braking, excellent steering.

Interior is comfortable enough to sleep in. (trust me, I've done it more than once!)

4X4 performance is top of the line, never gotten stuck (including 2 feet of mud) and never slide on ice, snow, or in the rain.

Great gas mileage, contrary to what's quoted, been on empty with 20 miles to next gas station and still made it there with no problems.

2000 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0 from North America

Summary:

Tough as rock

Faults:

The rear wiper doesn't wipe very clear.

General Comments:

Car is very reliable anywhere you go, its all weather car.

Very quick response on the road and off road.

The transmission kicks very fast and shift smoothly.

Cd changer and radio works fine and the speaker sounds great because of the sub-woofer on rear.

Sunroof and windows are working fine and not giving me troubles.

Style exterior and interior is awesome.

2000 Ford Explorer 4.0 North Face 4.0 litre V6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Built to last. Thirsty, but worth it

Faults:

Nothing yet.

General Comments:

The Explorer has served me well. Always starts and runs flawlessly.

It seems to be generally very well constructed and is a comfortable and practical car to own. It makes at great family vehicle as there is ample space for kids and luggage.

The engine is quite a powerhouse and makes the Explorer fairly swift for such a large heavy vehicle. It is heavy on fuel though: I get 20mpg.

Lots of standard equipment including air conditioning (very welcome!), and it is a real looker with chrome alloy wheels and beautiful dark green paint finish. The North Face version has a body coloured grille and bumpers also, so looks less gaudy than the chrome trimmed XLT. It looks better for it in my opinion.

Very surefooted in bad road conditions. It's great in the snow and is a fantastic vehicle for towing.

A much better car than the old Spanish built Maverick 4x4.

2000 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0 litre, Single Overhead Camshaft from North America

Summary:

FORD=Found On Road Dead... Not Mine

Faults:

The only problems since I've owned this truck have been:

-Idle Air Control Solenoid $120Cdn I diagnosed and replaced it myself.

-Air bag Drivers seat sensor $150Cdn I had it diagnosed and repaired by a dealer. It again is flashing the airbag light at me... meh whatever, I have life insurance.

-Front brake pads $190Cdn diagnosed and replaced at a non-dealer repair facility.

-Tires were replaced, before I got the truck, and I am not happy with the winter performance or wet weather grip of these new tires.

-Rear wiper intermittent problem, never replaced because it works fine 90% of the time.

General Comments:

Overall I am happy with this truck as it is solid inside and out.

The acceleration off the line is comparable to the 5.0l in other Explorers.

Braking power is adequate for the weight of this vehicle.

Wind noise is a bit of a problem at highway speeds, but then again so is fuel consumption. My solution was to set my cruise control at the speed limit rather than 20 to thirty kilometres/hour over it.

I installed a sub-woofer and amp to the factory deck and the sound quality of the system is excellent.

Handling is great I have never felt as though it was going to roll over and burst into flames.

Hi!

I'm living in Sweden and I buy a Ford Explorer XLT -96 for 1 months ago. I agree to You, all spare parts pricing is to high. One little electrical switch for up/down window control, i. e price in Sweden 400 SEK = 55 USD, electrical switch for control electrical back window price in Sweden 450 SEK = 62 USD. Where can I buy cheap spare parts.
