2001 Ford Mustang GT review from North America
"Love car lot's of performance for money"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The rear end had problems from day one.
General comments?
At first oil change (3000 miles) I noticed rear pinion seal leaking. Dealer replaced under warranty. At 7000 miles same problem. Again dealer replaced seal. At around 10000 miles I hear noise coming from rear end. Leaking again.Dealer has to rebuild rear end. At 15000 miles leaking again. I took the car back to dealer and told them I did not want the car. The dealer paid my car off which I was about $4000 in the hole on. And I bought a 2002 model actually cheaper than I paid for the 2001 model.
Now with 80,000 miles I have had no problems other than the amplifier going bad on the mach460 stereo.
On really cold mornings transmission is a little stubborn going into second gear. But no biggie, after a 5 minute warm up works just fine.
