1995 Ford Taurus GL review from North America
"If in good condition, a good buy"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My radiator need replacement at 55,000 miles.
The head gaskets blew at 67000 miles.
One of the rear windows stopped working at 63000 miles.
An annoying rattling sound from the engine, will somewhat go away if you use mid-grade fuel.
All kinds of creeks from the plastic interior when traveling over rough surfaces.
Transmission down-shifts hard from 3-2 gears.
General comments?
The 3.0 V6 is a little more than adequate. It is pretty good from a stand still and decent in highway passing. It has poor midrange response, but will beat any 4 cylinder Honda or Toyota from a stoplight.
It has a lot of features for the money and had a very good handling suspension, though over rough roads the tires make a lot of noise.
It could use a larger engine if you live in a hilly area or do highway driving.
