1990 Geo Prizm LSi 1.6L DOHC from North America

Summary:

A tough, fun-to-drive little workhorse

Faults:

Driver side regulator keeps getting stripped.

The headliner is falling down.

The speedometer broke at 181,000 miles.

Some sort of electrical problem caused both taillights and instrument panel lights to fail.

The body is rusting quite a bit.

I had to replace drive axles a few months ago.

Had to replace alternator recently.

General Comments:

Although this car has not been totally maintenance free, it has held up better than any car I've ever had.

This car was my first stick shift and it is really fun to drive. Very nice low end torque and good acceleration.

I have decided to keep this car, with it's current approximately 220,000 miles, because it is simple and relatively easy to work on, and I have decided to use it to learn car repairing on.

I intend to keep it running as long as possible and will repaint it eventually. I really like this car.

The comments for this write up are all very favorable for this car, however the little emoticon is a sad face. Seems it should be a smiley.

Summary:

Toyota+Chevy= GEO PRIZM

Faults:

Basic items brakes etc..

Nothing major.

General Comments:

This has to be one of the most durable cars on the market. It has been through hell and back and still keeps on rollin. I have driven this car all over the place and its never stalled switched off or anything and all I've ever done was the basic maintenance like the manual says. I'm very impressed by this car.

1990 Geo Prizm 1.6 from North America

Summary:

180,000 miles and still going strong

Faults:

Alternater went out at 115,000 and again at 165,000.

Replace axles at 130,000 miles.

Starter replaced at 168,000.

Wheel bearing replaced at 173,000.

Clear Coat is peeling off of car.

Lots of interior pieces have broken door handles, armrests etc...

General Comments:

This has been the best car I have ever owned it has never once failed to start or break-down. I can't imagine what Ill buy if this one ever does die. The A/C is still ice cold and the tranmission still shifts smoothly. I just wish the paint would have held up better than it did. I still say the car is one of the best on the road.

1990 Geo Prizm 1.6 from North America

Summary:

Long time friend-

Faults:

The normal wear and tear items that wear out after awhile brakes, belts, tires.

I have had a lot of interior items break, but I doesn't cost much to fix, things like window cranks, head-liner, glove box latch etc..

I've replace the cv-joints and the tie-rod ends on this car.

I think there might be a wheel bearing going out.

General Comments:

This has been a great reliable car, everything still works the a/c, cassette, rear defrost. Car is very quick It can run at great speeds on the interstate, it also gets great gas mileage. Always starts on the first turn.

General Comments:

This is a great car. I never thought this car was going to run this long. It has outlasted my sister's 93 Honda Civic and my brother's 92 Ford Escort.

The car is very quick even with all these miles. I have driven this car all over the place and it has never stalled or failed to start. I don't even want to think about the day when I have to replace this car.
