1992 Geo Storm Gsi 4 Cylinder from North America

Summary:

I miss my silver 92 Geo Storm Gsi with a passion - regret selling her

Faults:

CV Joints went - but thank God for the extended warranty which covered everything. Muffler when and was also covered by warranty. Two-door cars - never again though - the driver's side door kept dropping and repairs were made - again, covered by warranty!!!

All-in-all, a VERY nice little car for the price, dependable and attractive. Durable and I sold this baby for $5500.00 at 13+ yrs old!!! Regret selling her, but unfortunately not the best little speed demon in 5 foot snow levels we have in this area of Canada during the winter time. I miss her.

General Comments:

GREAT BUY FOR THE MONEY - GOT MY MONEY'S WORTH AND MUCH MUCH MORE! I MISS MY GEO STORM Gsi!!!

If it wasn't for the price difference noted on your comment about your 1992 Geo Storm GSI, I would have sworn I wrote it!

Identical things went wrong with mine - CV joints, driver side door dropped and muffler needed replacement - which was covered by an extended warranty as well. Mine was silver as well.

I did find it rather difficult to get tires for this little gem - I did find all season, but the tread was clearly made for speed and not the winter's icy snowy roads in Canada.

Other than that, I regret selling mine as well. Beautiful, saucy little car - my first car actually. I sold mine for $5500.00 - didn't even have time to post the "For Sale" sign - it went by word of mouth and an hour later after me making the decision to.

1992 Geo Storm 2+2 1.6L from North America

Summary:

This is a fun car to own!

Faults:

Cracked exhaust manifold.

Broken timing belt at 120,000 miles.

Muffler rusted off at 156,000 miles.

Ignition module failed at 148,000 miles.

General Comments:

This is a very reliable car and has only failed to start on me once when the ignition module failed at the mall parking lot. Given enough time, the heat dissipated and I was able to limp home.

The timing belt broke when I was on the freeway at 65 mph and I didn't suffer any broken valves or damaged pistons. All I had to do was get a mobile mechanic to come to my house and replace the belt.

It's small and I can squeeze into parking spaces when others can't.

The looks from other drivers can annoy you, especially when they tailgate and show you no respect.

1992 Geo Storm 2+2 from North America

Summary:

Great little beater or first car

Faults:

Battery cables are wired directly into the wiring harness. Corrosion ate the cables and had to have new cable spliced into wiring harness.

Starter went out after battery cable problem.

Occasionally will not start. Does not recognize car is in park and not reverse.

Sensor in speedometer went out and had to have rebuilt.

PC Valve going out.

Check engine light likes to come on occasionally.

Exhaust manifold broke into two pieces. Told it was an engineering problem.

Not able to find replacement parts.

General Comments:

Great litter beater car. Had 180lbs of hay in back seat and trunk.

1992 Geo Storm from North America

Summary:

I love it

Faults:

Doors have poor hinges, water gets inside the window and locks, making them hard to use in the winter, locks always freezing up, even after using sprays etc.

General Comments:

I love this car, it is fun to drive, inexpensive and easy to find parking spaces that it fits in. Has been reliable and economical.

I must agree. I owned a 93 Geo Storm, and I will never regret paying for it. I bought it from an older lady for only 900 bucks. The backseat is just a little too small, and just doesn't really have too much power, but all around a great car.

I love my Geo Storm-GSI. I had purchased it at a junk yard and rebuilt it. It is great in all aspects. the only problem I have had is the head gasket. Other than that this is a great car. through the winter I had no problems at all and the heater worked great. I recommend finding one and rebuilding it from ground up.
