1993 Honda Accord 10th Anniversary Edition 2.2L 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

I wouldn't think twice about buying this car again

Faults:

Suspension is noisy when it is cold outside.

Very rarely stalls when stopped, maybe once or twice a year.

Seals in right taillights bad, causing condensation to build inside cavity.

Noticed a decrease in horsepower since first purchased. Maybe due to high mileage.

General Comments:

I love my car! It has never broken down on me, has seen two wrecks totaling almost 9000 dollars, and still runs great in the city and on the highway. I do plan on keeping this car until it dies.

I bought it for 6800 dollars at the local Honda repair shop in vicinity of Pittsburgh, PA. Very good bargain due to the fact that it looked to be in showroom condition when I had bought it.

Has seen 3 PA winters, and loves the snow.

It has seen countless road trips to and from PA and VA.

I am concerned about the transmission a little though; the torque converter does not work very well. Will only work well in the summer with the air conditioning going...otherwise, during winter, it rarely works. I am not sure if it was due to the accident, or wear over time.

I'm very surprised that you said that you would not think about ever buying this car again, after you stated that it has been very reliable, and practically nothing has gone wrong with it. You must have extremely high expectations. As for the transmission, the automatic transmissions on the 1990 to 1993 Honda Accords have been known to be bad. Only the manual transmissions are good. So I'll give you credit there, otherwise, I don't understand you.

1993 Honda Accord LX standard from North America

Summary:

Still great after 243,000 miles

Faults:

Needs new engine mounts at 240,000 miles.

Carpet pieces on the doors came loose at 200,000 miles.

General Comments:

This car is the best. If I could find another one just like it with few miles I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Other than regular maintenance, I have had no expenses for this car.

The dealership tells me it needs new engine mounts now, but that the car will continue to run fine without replacing the engine mounts. The only problem this causes is a that we feel it when we place the car in gear now - we didn't used to notice any motion at all.

My husband ran into the car with our pickup and dented the back end - otherwise it would still look new.

Even after 243,000 miles the car is still tight and responsive with no sloppiness in the steering. It's still a lot of fun to drive.

This car is so realiable that I will buy Honda's forever.

1993 Honda Accord LX 2.2 from North America

Summary:

One solid reliable car, built to last

Faults:

Original radiator replaced at 126,000 miles, great life for original radiator in my opinion. $250 installed.

Orginal ignition coil replaced at 126,000 also. Good life for that part too. Expensive dealer part,$286.

Original front drive axles replaced at 131,000. Understandable common repair in front wheel drive cars. Not horribly expensive though, roughly $600 installed.

Gas gauge not working properly. Involved job to correct, so I just live with it and fill up every 200 miles.

Original front motor mount replaced for inspection at 138,000 miles.

The transmission has trouble downshifting from 3rd and 4th gears when I slow down to 20 m.p.h. and below. When it does shift its very harsh.

General Comments:

This is a very strong, reliable car that does not quit no matter how long you drive it or how hard you push it. I work 6 days a week as a pizza delivery driver in Philadelphia, PA. My job is very hectic and requires fast and aggressive driving, which this car does effortlessly. Handling is precise, predictablle, and confident. Acceleration is adequate with the 4 cyl. engine, and the gas mileage is good too, I see it as the best of both worlds.

Everything on this car is simple and effective. Ammenities are easy to use and well laid out.

My favorite thing about the car is it's tough-as-nails quality. The car can take whatever I can dish out and keep coming back for more. The car is driven a lot every single day. From stop and go on city streets, to flying down the highway, this car does it all and it does it very well.
