1993 Honda Accord LX 2.2 Liter 16v 4 Cylinder from North America

Summary:

Great bargain, and starter car

Faults:

Brakes lock up every so often.

Has trouble starting.

Oxidation spot on the rear panel.

The gas light appears to not work.

Power antenna motor works, but the antennea itself does not retract.

Power window motor is dying.

General Comments:

I am the third owner of this car.

Acceleration is very quick.

Great on gas.

Very roomy and comfortable.

It has not been much trouble to me, or the former owner.

The fact that my model does not have Anti-lock brakes has proved to be bad. They will often lock in wet weather or ice.

The rear speakers have broken, and must be replaced.

It has just hit 100,000 miles, and I expect to at least double that. It is a great starter car, and I hope to keep it for many more years.

1993 Honda Accord LX 2.2 liter 4-cylinder from North America

Summary:

Take care of it and drive it forever

Faults:

I replaced the muffler at about 68500 miles.

I replaced the speed sensor at about 68900 miles.

General Comments:

I bought this car because my husband is now a paraplegic and I thought it would be easier for him to maneuver in and out of a four-door sedan rather than our 2-door, 2-seater. Although my very first car was a Honda Civic CVCC (1975!), I hadn't driven anything, but Nissans (1 Sentra, 4 300ZX's) since. The person I bought the car from took excellent care of it and hardly put any miles on it at all. For the money, I think I got a great car. The parts are plentiful here where I live and the car isn't difficult to work on. I think I'll enjoy it immensely.

The first thing I did after I bought it was put a new Pioneer sound system in it. The previous owner had replaced the factory sound system for some reason. But I wanted something a bit nicer as I'm more of an audiophile than she is.

The body and interior are flawless and practically new. It's easy to maintain.

I feel more confident in this car than in my sports car because I can now, finally, see over the hood. There isn't as big a blind spot on the sides as there was with my 300ZX. I can change lanes and maneuver in traffic a lot easier than I had been. The power isn't there, but then this isn't a sports car. I'd happily trade power for comfort and ease of maintenance. I never thought I'd say this, but I don't even miss my Z-Car!

1993 Honda Accord LX 2.2 from North America

Summary:

Amazing piece of equipment!

Faults:

Nothing major! It went through one clutch at 394,000 miles, and it was still on it's original engine. Just normal wear and tear.

General Comments:

This was the best car ever! To have a car that ran and looked great at 394,000 miles is amazing and that is exactly what this car was. I will never purchase anything other than a Honda now.

1993 Honda Accord EX Coupe 2.2 from North America

Summary:

Excellent and worth the money spent

Faults:

Inside plastic handle covers continue to slowly form a crack. Radio Antenna strips it's gearing, Again! Brakes need to be bled once a year. Windows begin to stick at least once every two years.

General Comments:

Besides the common cracks and failures, this car was and is a Good Buy. I'm thinking about replacing the engine and trans soon. At 126,000, and I can hear a small knock coming out of the head. But the body is so unigue, I still get comments on the car...

Maybe I've been lucky but I bought my 1993 Accord four door with 126,000 miles on it and it now has 265,000 with the original engine and transmission (manual). It runs great, drives great and if this car ever does wear out, I will buy another Honda or Acura. Great cars!
